I'm Chelsea, a mom of 2 and a full spectrum doula who feels my purpose is to make your birth dreams come true! For as long as I can remember I wanted to be in the world of birthwork. My favorite show as a child was "A baby story", a show that followed pregnant people through their journey and birth experience, and by the time I was a teenager I knew I wanted to become a midwife. After getting accepted to college I was enrolled in the midwifery program for over a year and on the way to making my dreams come true. Then, when I was 19, I unexpectedly got pregnant and everything came to a temporary halt while I spent time focusing on raising my son as a single mother and working. The birth of my son was an incredibly traumatic experience unfortunately, but inspired within me a new spark and an even bigger drive to make a difference, so I could try to prevent negative outcomes for other birthing people. Fast forward around 9 years and the idea of becoming a doula came to me. I decided to take the leap, applied for a scholarship with Birthing Advocacy doula trainings, and was awarded a full scholarship for my essay on why I felt called to become a doula! The training affirmed everything I felt about my passion for this work...I finally felt aligned with my purpose and couldn't wait to get started! Recently, with my 2nd pregnancy and the birth of my daughter just this past September, I experienced something incredible now that I am a doula myself... I was able to see the beauty of knowledge, power and healing come full circle. I gave birth on my own terms, my body and my wishes were respected and held with care, and my soul was healed as my daughter was born and I was reborn. Experiencing pregnancy and birth through new perspective this time was cathartic, eye-opening and life changing for me. My combined holistic and practical approach to birth comes from both my training as a doula and my time training in midwifery, and ensures that my clients have the best experience possible tailored specifically to their needs and wants. I take pride in spending quality time with each client in prenatal visits, to hold space for your wishes, and to go over every detail of your vision, crafting a thorough birth plan together. My ultimate goal is to make sure you feel empowered, advocated for, supported, safe and nurtured. I will dedicate myself to you, and be the shoulder to lean on, the listening ear and the hand to hold, throughout our entire journey together.

Last week, this beautiful mama and I met up for breakfast to celebrate the end of our time together as doula and client. While celebrating an ending might sound strange, the significance of the 12 weeks I had the honor of spending with her definitely deserves celebration! After a day shift with them 2 weeks ago, I had a gut feeling when I left that it was quite possibly the last one... Sure enough, when I texted Devon about the following week, she replied "I cant believe I'm saying this right now, but I think we're ready to graduate!". My heart broke and soared at the same time 🥹 In the beginning of our time together, I met parents who had many fears, had faced the struggle of a pregnancy and newborn with medical issues, and were seeking guidance for everything in front of them. At the end of these 12 weeks, I am looking at a thriving family, a mother so sure of herself, excited about her future, healing from her struggles, fully confident in her motherhood journey, and empowered beyond belief! 😍

Sitting here reflecting on how content and grateful I'm feeling, because today marks a very special anniversary for me ✨️

One year ago today, I took the leap into full-time self-employment—an uncertain but deeply intentional decision. It wasn’t just a spur-of-the-moment choice; it was the result of three years of relentless hard work...late nights, early mornings, and countless moments of doubt. Last year today was my last day employed at the full time job I had been with for 12 years, and during my final 3 years there, I worked around the clock to build Moonlight Maternity to a point that I could feel comfortable with finally quitting. There were times I wasn’t sure if it would all pay off, especially on the nights filled with exhaustion and tears while I tried to juggle everything. During those 3 years, I was also pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding...every sleepless night challenged me in my ability to keep pushing towards my dreams, but through every challenge, one thing always remained unwavering: my belief in myself, my abilities, and the vision I had for a better future. And now, one full year later, I can say with my whole heart—it was worth it 😍 I’ve not only built the business I once dreamed of, but I’ve thrived in ways I never imagined. I’ve grown as a person, as a doula and educator, as a mother, expanded my vision, and created something truly meaningful. And the best part? I’m just getting started 💪🏻

It feels deeply significant that this milestone falls on the 15th—the exact anniversary of my full leap into self-employment—and under the energy of the Blood Moon 🌕 a symbol of completion, transformation, and stepping into a new chapter. This journey has been exactly that—a transition into something greater, something I always knew was possible if I just kept believing in myself & the dream.

As I continue into year FIVE! of Moonlight Maternity, and celebrate this milestone, I want to make sure my gratitude is known- To everyone who has supported me, trusted me, and been part of this journey—THANK YOU! Your encouragement and belief in me mean more than I can ever express. The best is yet to come! ✨️

It's 7 a.m. and I'm about to go to sleep after working my first overnight with my newest postpartum family, but just thinking about how lucky I am and wanted to share about my day!

This morning, I started the day with a postpartum follow-up visit with a birth client. This gem of a human asked to take a photo of me holding her sweet baby girl, and I couldn't have been happier! I don't ever ask to hold clients babies, I never want to make someone feel obligated to say yes or take baby from mama, but I absolutely love when it's offered and am so grateful. Mom and baby are both doing well, and watching the bond between them was gorgeous 😍 And just LOOK at how beautiful they both are!! Capturing moments of the pure joy and love on a mother's face when looking at her baby is my absolute favorite thing 🤍

A few pictures in between of me and my baby girl! She's just so stinkin cute, and as a mom, I love those moments where we can get the candid genuine laughter and silly faces with our kids in pictures. I feel like it's a good reminder to myself and to all of you other mama's, just take the damn picture! 😅 I feel like we all do that thing where we go, "oh ugh, I don't look good right now though", but it doesn't matter, our kids don't care and neither should we! I don't have makeup on in those pictures, I look exhausted, and nothing special was going on, we were just in the diner eating. But my daughter was having so much fun being silly, grabbed my phone and said "mama, pictures?!"... how could I say no to that face?! Capturing those little perfect moments in time are memories that are priceless ❤️

And to finish out my day/night, I started a new postpartum overnight contract! This little prince is 1 week old and just the sweetest thing 🥹 I'm so looking forward to spending the next 6 weeks with him, his parents, and his big brother!

All that to say, I'm feeling so grateful that this is my life! I get to spend most days with my kids, and my work is something that I truly enjoy every aspect of! It might be cliché, but the phrase "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life" feels absolutely true for me. My heart is full 💞

Had a wonderful morning getting to chat with these two amazing women! I'm so excited that we finally have a Pelvic Floor PT in southern Ocean County, welcome to our community ✨️

There's a pretty neat back story here, too! Brittany, the woman in the middle of this photo, was my own PT four years ago while working at a different company. We knew each other as I was beginning my doula journey, and she was helping me regain strength after a back injury and two surgeries, both of which threatened my being able to continue on with this work. She truly helped make my dream of birthwork happen, without her, I'm not sure I'd be where I am today. I'll forever be grateful for her 🥹 She reached out to me a few weeks ago to let me know she was working with Dr. Alexandra at Jersey Shore Pelvic Health, and told me they wanted me to come in to connect with them, I was beyond excited to hear that news! I was so happy to begin with upon learning that we have this resource for women in southern Ocean County now, but to hear that one of the PT's is someone I already know well, and trust, made it even better! Connecting with Dr. Alexandra and Dr. Brittany this morning was incredible, they are both so genuine and passionate about what they do, and filled with positive, compassionate energy. The space Dr. Alexandra has created is gorgeous, bright and cozy, and I'm positive anyone would feel safe and comfortable in their care! 🤍

Love making collaborative connections with other practitioners in the women's wellness field! Building the network of well-rounded care is so important, and pelvic floor therapy is a huge part of that! If you're looking for a Pelvic Floor PT in southern Ocean County, this is the place to go! 😍

Just want to take a minute and give a HUGE congratulations to my incredible friend & business bestie, Krystyna, for taking a leap of faith toward one of her many amazing goals and dreams! She is already an LCSW specializing in perinatal mental health .groundedsoul , a veteran, a mom & all around powerhouse of a woman who I am so lucky to have in my life 🤍 Coming in October, she'll be opening the doors of "Nurture & Nourish Maternal Wellness" & bringing something to the moms of Ocean County that is so very needed! A village, a community, an all-encompassing safe haven. The name is VERY fitting, the goal is to Nurture & Nourish mama's through every aspect of Maternal Wellness! This space will be a place to come for a collective of resources in many modalities of care, classes, groups, support, and connection, giving you the opportunity to feel completely safe and cared for, in all aspects of motherhood & womanhood, under one roof! There will also be mommy and me groups, Montessori classes, groups to nurture your kids and your relationship with them, and so much more!

So excited to also announce that Moonlight Maternity will be a part of this amazing space! I will be there teaching group Childbirth Education classes & offering Doula support in any stage of the journey to & through parenthood, as well as eventually hosting support groups in collaboration with Krystyna & other practitioners! 🌿 When Krystyna and I first met, it was a simple connection about collaborative work, but we quickly learned we had a shared dream and like-minded goals. We have so much in common and even found out that we had the same due date when we were pregnant with our daughters the same year! Felt like a sign from the universe ✨️🌙 I am so lucky and grateful to have this beautiful human as my friend and constant cheerleader, supporting me & encouraging me, and most of all, inspiring me! Congratulations on achieving something so huge and creating something every mom dreams of! 🤍
