It's time to go grain...

Which bucket are you feeding your horse in and why? πŸ‘€

My thoughts as a bodyworker πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

I personally am almost always going to choose a flat pail on the ground over a bucket that hangs on the fence!

Why?

Because it mimics a natural feeding position and allows for full range of motion through the jaw!

In some horses it can also slow their rate of feeding because they can fully see their surroundings and feel less "trapped" with their nose in a bucket and limited ability to see their surroundings as well.

Now there are *some* cases in which a fence feeder might be more appropriate, especially in horses with postural or core strength challenges who may find it difficult to bend down and maintain the "correct" grazing position while eating their grain.

What are your thoughts on feeding containers and feeding positions? πŸ€”

I was super surprised when I glanced out the window and noticed Rex going to town on a pile of manure.

This is very atypical behavior for him, and not something I have seen him do before πŸ‘€

There are a ton of reasons why horse might eat manure…

Do you have any guesses to what might be going on here?

For reference:
πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Rex is in 24/7 turnout (about 2 acres) with 2 herd mates.
πŸ‘‰πŸΌ He has access to grass hay 24/7 both in nets and loose.
πŸ‘‰πŸΌ He has a comprehensive diet that includes free feed hay, balancer, salt, and a few other supplements.

Any ideas why he might be eating p**p? πŸ’©

What does a cold laser *actually* do? And is it really that cold?! πŸ₯Ά

Cold laser isn't actually cold ... it's just not hot enough to heat the tissue in the body like some other forms of laser therapy.

So what's does cold laser do? Similar to PEMF, it's a cellular stimulant that helps kick-start the cellular regenerative process which leads to faster healing and better repair of the issue.

I especially love love cold laser for: sore muscle tissue, arthritis relief in joints, wound repair, tendon and ligament issues, and abscesses but truly it's benefits are virtually endless.

Consider adding cold laser to your horse's next session and keep in mind I'm always here for that next injury - standalone cold laser services always available, too!

We’re looking forward to our upcoming Wine & Unwind retreat 🍷

It’s been fun putting together something a little different for the ranch, featuring curated wine tastings, yoga sessions, a sound bath, and even an equine massage experience.

We love finding new ways to slow things down and offer something special out here in the desert, and this one is shaping up to be a good one.

Sometimes s**t happens.

Some sessions surprise me (even still!).

Sometimes we have to pause, readjust, and restart.

And all of this is normal. Horses are not machines - every session requires a different approach.

My job is to listen to the horse, to not push them past their limit, and to help them to the best of my ability ❀️
