True self-care . . .

What do I mean by true self-care? There can't just be one right way to care for oneself, can there?

No, there can't. And that's the point of true self-care. It means to care for yourself in the way that's most appropriate for you. Today. Right now, this red hot minute.

That could mean scheduling yourself a massage because you've been busy and haven't done anything for yourself in a while. Or it could mean putting down your phone (after you've finished reading this post, of course), stop doom-scrolling, and go outside to get some fresh air and sunlight. It could mean giving yourself more rest, or getting up earlier to exercise.

How do you know what you need? You can tell by the way you feel.

But to do that, you have to check in. Take a break from whatever you're doing. Close your eyes. Take three deep breaths. Then ask yourself - how do I feel.

Scan your body.

Do you feel jittery? If so, you probably need more movement - get up, take a walk, do a workout, etc.

Do you feel tired? If so, you could use some rest - set your timer for 5 to 20 minutes depending on how much time you have. Turn on a guided meditation, or just close your eyes and take a break.

Do you feel overwhelmed? If so, you could probably use some help - do a mental scan of your list of resources and see what you might be able to unload from your to-do list.

True self-care means caring enough about yourself to give yourself what you need when you need it. And the only way to really know what that is, is to check in with yourself.

So, if you haven't done so already today - check in with yourself and see how you're feeling. Then, figure out a way to give yourself what you need. I promise - you'll thank yourself tomorrow!

Foundation of Flow
Phase 2: Balancing the Pillar Meridians

You know that feeling of falling off balance? When you're just beginning to fall a little one way or the other, but then you catch yourself. Your body floods with a feeling of relief and for a moment, you truly appreciate the stability and balance of your body that you normally take for granted?

Balance is such an essential part of our existence. We are constantly shifting and moving to react or adjust to an incredible number of variables throughout the day. We are so good at balancing in fact, that often we don't realize how much we might be compensating. If you've gotten used to being off balance in one way or another, that becomes your new normal.

But many annoyances and inconveniences come with being chronically off balance. Emotional instability, physical pain, digestive issues, sleep irregularities. One after another of these symptoms begin to occur to let us know - "Hey you! You're operating out of balance. You might want to recalibrate!"

But instead of heeding those signs as the helpful information they were intended to be, we press on, determined we can carry the load no matter how out of alignment it puts us. Many believe this is "strength" or "perseverance." But no matter how "strong" an object appears, it will inevitably fall to the ground once it has gotten too far off balance.

So, for the second phase of my new Foundation of Flow program, I am dedicating time to balancing and clearing the energy of the Pillar Meridians. These a meridians that support the Main Central Meridian that we'll be balancing in Phase one. If any of these Pillar Meridians are blocked or imbalanced, they could potentially continue pulling that Central Meridian off balance. But once they are cleared or rebalanced, then they work in tandem with the Central Meridian to give your system the firm base of support it needs.

The results of balancing and clearing the Pillar Meridians include reduction in pain on one particular side of the body, better sleep, more emotional stability (not getting pulled into other people's drama), better focus and clarity.

Together with the Main Central Meridian balance, the Pillar Meridian balance will leave you feeling refreshed and renewed - eager to be the best version of yourself in every way!

Foundation of Flow
Phase 1 - Opening and Balancing the Energy Centers of the Main Central Flow

There is a natural flow of energy in our bodies.

We tend to forget about it, ignore it, and more often than not don't realize it's there.

But it's at the core of every emotional and physical manifestation in our bodies and our lives.

The main energy flow within us runs up the center of our bodies. Like a river system, it flows out to a multitude of other channels that traverse our entire system.

When this main flow is open and connected we feel vibrant, loved, capable, nourished, and supported.

When there are blockages to the flow we experience emotional and physical dissonance.

How do you know if your central energy flow is open and balanced? You can tell by how you feel. If you spend most of your time feeling eager, appreciative, joyful, hopeful, playful. If your body typically moves with ease, feels strong and capable. If you rest well at night and awaken replenished. And if you feel connected to your own sense of purpose, then your central channel is open and flowing.

But if you find yourself swaying more often towards heavy emotions like sadness, worry, or doubt, if you don't feel confident in your body, if you have trouble sleeping or wake up fatigued, or if you feel disconnected and purposeless as your move through your day, one or more of your main energy centers is likely blocked or out of balance.

In my new program, the first phase will be to open and balance those energy centers on the main central flow.

For many people, this treatment creates a ripple effect - because once those energy centers are open, it's like removing a dam from a river. Energy that couldn't get out to side channels is now flowing freely where it needs to go. So chronic symptoms and patterns have the potential to resolve on their own.

For others, opening these energy centers improves their results with other modalities they've been using. If they've reached a plateau in healing with PT, acupuncture, or even therapy, they may find themselves getting to that next level of improvement they've been trying for.

Whatever your health goals are, ensuring the flow of your main central meridian will enhance your experience. And when you feel better, life gets better!

Have you ever been really excited about something? I mean really excited - like you know for certain that it's the right...

Have you ever been really excited about something? I mean really excited - like you know for certain that it's the right thing for you to do and you can't wait to take the next step?

But then, you start thinking about the step after that, and the one after that, and all the possible twists and turns after that. And then all the excitement and eagerness comes crashing down around you and now you feel stuck, not knowing what to do.

I've been guilty of this a time or three throughout my life - knowing exactly what I want to do, feeling inspired to take a step in the direction of it, but then smashing down on the brakes because of uncertainty or fear that it's not the right step.

But you know what I've learned? There is no "right" step. There's just the next step that feels right to you.

We've gotten very used to following GPS in our cars when we're driving. We know where we're starting, where we want to go, and then we trust those handy dandy map apps to tell us which way to turn and when. And those apps know enough not to give us too much information all at once. If they blurted out the entire route, we'd certainly get confused or forget what the fifth turn was supposed to be once we got there. Instead, those clever apps give us what we need to know when we need to know it.

And the same thing is happening as you move forward toward your goals. That inner knowing/drive to go somewhere or do something is your next guidance. And when you follow it, you'll get another ping or inner whisper telling you what comes next. Trust it, just like you do your GPS app!

And know there are many possible routes that will lead to your destination. So even if you make a "wrong" turn, you'll get rerouted and be back on track in no time.

So today, instead of trying to look too far ahead on your path, follow the guidance you're getting right NOW. And trust that you'll get everything you need know when you need to know it!
