Southern Arizona Placement and Referral Alliance

Southern Arizona Placement and Referral Alliance We are the Southern Arizona chapter of NPRA. We strengthen ethical standards, unite professionals, and support families navigating senior care.

We educate, connect, and advocate for quality, transparency, and Family Choice in every placement. The Senior Placement & Referral industry remains largely unregulated, without mandatory licensing or oversight by a governing body. Families often ask, “How do we find a reputable agency to help us through the challenging process of finding a home for our senior or disabled loved one?”

NPRA (National Placement & Referral Alliance) steps in to provide guidance and standards by:

- Defining a clear scope of practice for the Senior Referral Industry across the country.
- Establishing, promoting, and advocating for minimum ethical standards and best practices.
- Providing resources to help families find senior referral providers who adhere to NPRA's high standards of conduct. NPRA’s Best Practices ensure that placement professionals operate with integrity, providing families the confidence to make informed decisions. Our members voluntarily uphold these standards to protect, educate, and serve the public, fostering trust in senior living placements.

We had our February event, Navigating care across the continuum last night. It was hosted by BridgeWater Assisted Living and we wanted to give a special thanks to Lorell O'Dell for setting this up so beautifully! There was plenty of space for everyone and we greatly appreciate the tapas and drinks!

We just wrapped up an incredible, heartwarming panel discussion with top experts in senior care, diving into the invaluable benefits of Private Duty Care, Home Health, Palliative Care, and Hospice. Quizzed by our very own Tuyen Johnston, MSW.

Here are some of our key takeaways on the positives of choosing in-home care:
✨ Personalized Independence: Private duty care allows seniors to maintain their daily routines, dignity, and independence in the comfort of their own homes.
🤝 Holistic Support: Home health services provide skilled, specialized care that aids recovery and improves quality of life right where it’s most comfortable.
❤️ Focus on Quality of Life: Palliative and Hospice care experts highlighted how these services prioritize comfort, pain management, and emotional support for both seniors and their families.
💡 Peace of Mind: The panel emphasized how these care models reduce stress, providing tailored support that strengthens family bonds.
It’s not just about care—it’s about enabling seniors to live their best lives, surrounded by comfort and love.
💡 What does "home" mean to you or your loved ones? Let us know in the comments!

Placement Is a Process — Not Just a Referral

Ethical placement goes beyond simply making a referral; it involves everything that happens after the move-in. Neglecting follow-through can lead to more relocations and rehospitalizations, which can be tough on seniors and their families.

At SoAPRA, we believe in the power of ongoing support to ensure successful transitions and improve quality of care. Let’s work together to make every placement a thoughtful and sustainable process.

Join us in promoting ethical practices in senior placement! 🌟

Winter doesn't mean we can pause the care our loved ones need. In fact, January can bring many of the same challenges we faced in December: a higher risk of falls, cognitive changes, and the toll of caregiver fatigue. 🤝 It’s a tough season for families managing care, but remember, you’re not alone!

Getting professional guidance early can truly make a difference. By planning ahead and seeking support now, you can help prevent crisis-driven transitions later on. This way, your loved ones receive the care they deserve when they need it most.

Feeling overwhelmed or unsure about what to do next? Don’t hesitate to reach out today! Our community and experts are here to help you navigate these challenges with confidence and compassion. 💙
