Airway-focused dentistry is changing how we think about oral health.
Gateway Family Care is excited to welcome Dr. Alpa Merchant, a Tucson dentist who looks beyond teeth to understand how the jaw, airway, muscles, and bite all work together.
Her approach focuses on the entire head and neck system, identifying imbalances that can affect breathing, chewing, and overall health.
Because when the body’s two most automatic functions—breathing and eating—aren’t working properly, the effects go far beyond the mouth.

Big news at Gateway Family Care… we’ve welcomed a few new partners, and we’ll be introducing them throughout the month. First up, dietitian Rachel Master.

In Rachel’s own words:
“Food has always been part of my story. My dad was an executive chef for over 40 years, and some of my earliest memories are in kitchens with him. When I was in high school he owned a restaurant called Rachel’s Cafe, where I worked weekends. Cooking and sharing food has always been something that bonded us.”

That early love of food eventually led Rachel to become a dietitian, where she now helps people build healthier, more supportive relationships with nutrition. We’re so excited to have Rachel as part of the Gateway Family Care team and can’t wait to share more about the work she’s doing with our community.
