AMP - Anchor Music Project

AMP - Anchor Music Project AMP Anchor Music Project (AMP) is a program hosted by HOPE, Inc., that is a safe space for youth (ages 12-17) to learn, teach, and connect with music.

Musical experience has been shown to alleviate the aspects of behavioral health conditions and substance use. AMP was founded in honor of two Tucson youth who died by suicide, Mitchell Barrigar and Paul Goguen. About Mitchell:

Mitchell Barrigar loved music. He played music when he was happy and when he was sad. It helped him in many ways and he always felt more comfortable when he was playing music than doing anything else. When he couldn’t play he was listening to it. Music was his life. Unfortunately Mitchell also suffered from depression and anxiety, exacerbated by a short period of dealing with addiction. Mitchell lost his fight with his depression and anxiety in June 2014 when we lost him to suicide. His music ended that day, but in his honor and memory this project was started. This project is intended to utilize music to enhance, brighten, and change lives. Our goal is to help anyone dealing with any situation, condition or difficult period in their lives to use music to move forward and keep moving forward…in recovery and in life.
