One of the things we value most at BCI is the sense of community that grows throughout each program.

Yes, participants come here to work with horses and mustangs, but they also spend time encouraging one another, learning from each other, and witnessing each other’s journeys firsthand. Sometimes watching a friend experience a breakthrough with a horse can feel just as meaningful as your own.

That’s part of why the community aspect of this work matters so much to us. The bonds formed during each class often continue long after the program ends.

Through monthly clinics, reunions, and continued horsemanship opportunities, we aim to create a space where participants from every class can reconnect, support one another, and continue growing together.

At the end of the day, it’s never just about the horses. It’s about the people standing beside you, too.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

At Basecamp for Veterans and White Stallion Ranch, we are especially reminded of the meaning of service, sacrifice, and community. We’re grateful for those who gave everything, and for the families who continue to carry their memory forward.

Today, we remember with gratitude and honor those who served and never came home. 🇺🇸

At Basecamp for Veterans, the learning doesn’t happen alone.

Through the guidance of trusted partners, facilitators, and experienced horsemen, our veterans are introduced to the skills, patience, and responsibility that come with handling horses, especially when learning to work with mustangs and the unique lessons they can teach.

Pictured is Randy Helm with one of the mustangs that came through our program. Today, that same horse is part of the dude string at White Stallion Ranch, a full-circle reminder of growth, trust, and the lasting impact of this work.

We’re grateful for the people who help guide both horses and humans through the process. 🤎

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Basecamp for Veterans Inc. 💛

Today we’re celebrating the mothers, grandmothers, daughters, caregivers, and veterans who continue to show up for the people around them with strength, resilience, and compassion.

To the women who have served, supported those who served, and helped hold families and communities together along the way, we appreciate you today and every day.

At Basecamp for Veterans Inc., our mission is simple, use horsemanship as a way to build connection, confidence, and community for veterans and their families.

Through equine-based programming, participants spend time working with horses in a hands-on environment, learning practical skills while also reconnecting with themselves and others.

It’s not just about the horses, it’s about what happens alongside them.

We’re growing, and looking for the right person to help us share what we do!

Basecamp for Veterans Inc. is hiring a part-time Outreach Coordinator to represent BCI at local events, fairs, and community gatherings.

This is a people-first role, building connections, starting conversations, and helping others understand the impact of equine-based programs for veterans and their families.

What to expect:
• $18/hour
• Flexible, part-time hours
• Gas + approved expenses reimbursed

If you’re outgoing, reliable, and believe in the power of community and connection, this could be a great fit.

Join us in continuing the work.

Horses are incredibly sensitive animals, their survival has always depended on reading the world around them. Because of this, they pick up on human body language, breathing patterns, tension, and even subtle changes in our heart rate.

In equine-assisted programs, this sensitivity becomes a powerful tool.
Horses often reflect back what we’re feeling, sometimes before we’ve fully noticed it ourselves. When we’re anxious, they may show unease. When we soften, breathe, and become present, they respond in kind.

It’s not magic, it’s their nature.
But it feels like healing.

That’s why so many veterans and families find clarity, grounding, and connection during their time with the herd. Horses create a space where honesty matters more than words, and where calm becomes something you can feel in your body, not just think about.

This is the heart of what we do at BCI. 🐴🤍
