๐Ÿƒ Terpene Spotlight: Borneol ๐Ÿƒ

Borneol is a naturally occurring terpene recognized for its camphorous, minty, and herbal aroma. It is found in several plants including rosemary, mint, and camphor-producing species.

In laboratory research, borneol has been studied for antioxidant and neuroprotective activity. Studies have also explored its interactions with GABAergic and cholinergic signaling pathways, which are involved in neurological communication within the body.

Pharmacological research has investigated borneol for its potential role in modulating bloodโ€“brain barrier permeability, as well as anti-inflammatory activity observed in experimental models. In complex plant profiles, borneol is often present alongside other terpenes and phytochemicals.

Understanding terpene chemistry can help patients better interpret aroma profiles, plant compounds, and product labeling when exploring options at licensed dispensaries.

At The Higher Care Clinic, we focus on clear, compliant patient education to help individuals better understand plant compounds and navigate state medical programs.

Sleep affects more than just how rested you feel.

Quality sleep plays an important role in brain function, memory, hormone balance, energy regulation, cardiovascular health, and physical recovery.

March is National Sleep Month, a good time to check in on your sleep habits and overall wellness routine.

Some patients explore plant-based therapies as part of their nighttime routine when guided by a physician and used responsibly. Finding the right terpene profile, strain, or formulation may help support relaxation and sleep readiness for some individuals.

Oxygen therapy sessions are also commonly used to support circulation, relaxation, and recovery, which many people incorporate into their wellness routines.

Everyoneโ€™s body is different, which is why education and proper guidance matter.

At The Higher Care Clinic, our licensed physicians provide evaluations, and our team helps guide patients through the process with clear, supportive education.

Missouri med card holders will receive renewal reminder notices at 60, 45, 30, and 15 days before their ID card expiration date. These notifications are sent through the online registry portal to the email address used when registering for and logging into the system.

The window to submit a patient or caregiver renewal application opens 60 days before the expiration date, but patients are encouraged to submit no later than 30 days before expiration.

The system does allow submissions after the 30-day window, however the Department has up to 30 days to process an application, so renewals submitted late may not be completed before the current ID card expires.

Important tip:
After receiving the 60-day renewal notification, wait 24 hours before submitting your renewal application through the registry portal.

At The Higher Care Clinic, our licensed physician provides patient evaluations and guidance to help Missouri patients navigate the renewal process.

๐ŸŒธTerpene Spotlight: Ocimene๐ŸŒธ

Ocimene is a naturally occurring monoterpene found in a variety of plants. It is responsible for sweet, citrus, woody, and tropical aromas and is commonly present in plants such as orchids, mint, parsley, and black pepper.

Like other terpenes, ocimene contributes to the aroma and chemical profile of plant materials. Terpenes are volatile organic compounds produced by plants that play a role in plant defense, pollinator attraction, and environmental interactions.

Laboratory research has examined ocimene for antimicrobial activity, and some studies have explored its interactions with inflammatory and respiratory signaling pathways. Research on terpenes continues to develop as scientists study how these compounds interact with biological systems, including the endocannabinoid system and other molecular pathways.

Understanding terpenes can help patients better interpret aroma, flavor profiles, and product labeling when selecting products from licensed dispensaries.

At The Higher Care Clinic, our goal is to provide clear, compliant patient education to help individuals navigate state medical programs and better understand the science behind plant compounds.

๐ŸŒฟ Terpene Spotlight: Myrcene ๐ŸŒฟ

Myrcene is one of the most commonly occurring plant-derived terpenes found in a variety of foods and botanicals, including mango, lemongrass, thyme, and hops. It contributes to earthy, musky, and slightly clove-like aromatic profiles.

In research settings, myrcene has been studied for its interactions with inflammatory and pain-related biological pathways, as well as its potential antioxidant and antimicrobial activity in laboratory models.

Some studies have also observed myrcene influencing cell membrane permeability, which may affect how certain compounds move across biological membranes. Because of these properties, myrcene is often discussed in terpene research related to relaxation and body-focused effects.

Understanding terpenes helps patients better explore the complex chemistry of plant-derived compounds and how they interact with the bodyโ€™s signaling systems.

At The Higher Care Clinic, patient education is an important part of helping individuals make informed decisions about their wellness.

๐ŸŠ Terpene Spotlight: Limonene ๐ŸŠ

Limonene is a naturally occurring monoterpene most commonly found in citrus peels, as well as plants like juniper and peppermint. It is responsible for the familiar bright, zesty aroma associated with oranges, lemons, and other citrus fruits.

In scientific research, limonene has been examined for antimicrobial and antifungal activity in laboratory models. Researchers have also studied how it interacts with neurological signaling pathways related to stress and mood regulation, as well as its potential influence on digestive and inflammatory biological markers.

Outside of terpene research, limonene is widely used in cosmetic and dermatological formulations because of its aromatic properties and its ability to influence how certain ingredients interact with the skin.

At The Higher Care Clinic, we prioritize science-based education so patients can better understand the plant compounds and aromatic molecules that contribute to terpene profiles.

Missouri Patients: Access Your Patient ID Card Through the Registry

Once approved, Missouri patients can access their Patient Identification Card through the Missouri Medical Ma*****na Program Registry.

From the state portal, patients can download the Patient ID Card PDF and save it digitally or print a copy.

Missouri does not mail physical patient ID cards, so it is the patientโ€™s responsibility to download or print their approved ID from the registry.

Patients should present their Patient Identification Card along with a valid government-issued photo ID.

Renewal reminders:
Current ID card holders will receive notices 60, 45, 30, and 15 days before their expiration date. These reminders are sent from the registry portal to the email address used for your account.

The renewal window opens 60 days before expiration, and patients are encouraged to submit their renewal no later than 30 days before the expiration date to allow time for processing.

The Department has up to 30 days to process applications, so submitting late may result in a gap in your active patient status.

OMMA Patient Update

Due to issues with the new OMMA portal after recent updates, the Oklahoma Medical Ma*****na Authority (OMMA) has clarified that patients may use their approval email as a temporary patient license once their application has been approved.

If your application is approved, you can present:

โœ”๏ธ Your OMMA approval email
โœ”๏ธ A valid government-issued photo ID

This allows approved patients to verify their status while waiting for their physical patient license card to arrive in the mail.

Important tips for patients navigating the new portal:

โ€ข If you experience issues on a mobile device, try using a computer instead.
โ€ข Older Thentia-hosted links are no longer active. Make sure you are using the new OMMA MedPortal link.
โ€ข The 14-day processing window for patient applications remains in effect, but patients are encouraged to monitor the portal regularly for updates.

At The Higher Care Clinic, we help guide patients through OMMA applications, renewals, and portal navigation.
