It’s possible to get into a space where we keep trying for more more more. We keep improving, we keep learning, we keep striving - but in the midst of striving we stop being present for what is.

While working so hard to “be better” we miss the beauty right in front of us - including our our growth.

Goals aren’t bad. Growing isn’t bad. Improving & striving isn’t bad.

But it can’t be the end goal. If we are always working for more we will never feel good enough.

The first year after having a baby & the years raising little ones are FULL of change & challenge admits the joy and love. It’s built in opportunities for growth & reflection. If all you’ve done this last year is raise your babies & keep going - that’s an accomplish in and of itself 🤰🏻👩‍👦

Take some time today, whether you’re making new goals or not, to appreciate where you are, who you’re with & who you are ❤️

You can be a good mom and miss things about your pre-kid life.

It’s actually REALLY NORMAL to grieve parts of your life from before kids. It’s part of the transition to motherhood known as Matrescence.

The only problem is we’ve been conditioned by the media & society as a whole to think this so wrong. To think it makes you a bad mom. To think it’s only you.

It’s not just you mama. & it’s okay.

OCD has two parts:
🌸 obsessions - thoughts or images that come into your head over and over again when you don’t want them (am I a good enough mom, my baby is going to stop breathing, what if I run out of breast milk)
🧸Compulsions - an act, either external or internal, like rechecking a mental list over and over or checking the monitor or avoiding something that temporarily eases the anxiety & makes you feel better about the obsession.

This occurs in a cycle - the obsessions comes, you do the compulsion (which can include avoidance, like avoiding caring for your baby and letting others do it if you don’t feel good enough). The anxiety eases temporarily (sometimes just for a minute, sometimes longer) and then the cycle begins again.

Therapy can help so much with OCD.

Acceptance and commitment therapy (which I love) & Exposure and Response Prevention (which I’m currently learning about) are amazing therapy modalities for Perinatal OCD!

If you’re a mom looking for therapy - ask your therapist what modalities they are using! A good therapist should be able to tell you.

AND is one of the most powerful words I’ve learned in motherhood.

Replacing BUT with AND helps me let go of guilt.

AND helps me make space for myself while also acknowledging all of my other responsibilities

AND creates more space & freedom - BUakes me feel small, guilty and like there isn’t enough space for me in motherhood.

Healing isn’t linear.

I think this is the hardest part of going on any healing journey - having to realize that there may be days where you feel like you’re back at square one but that doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.

Many of us are healing generational traumas & making space to heal while balancing work/parenting/the mental load.

It’s not easy.

Reintroduction post ahead..

🌸 I’m Kylee! A licensed therapist & budding herbalist passionate about women’s wellness, mental health & motherhood.

🌷 I started studying herbalism last December through the & have fallen in love with the idea that we can use plants to support our bodies & our wellness.

🤰🏻I own Fulfilled Motherhood Counseling & provide 1:1 therapy to moms in Oklahoma & Colorado.

🧠 I’m currently exploring ways to integrate herbalism into how I support mamas & families - but still in the idea phase, so for now I’ll be sharing herbal wellness info here, continuing my studying & creating things behind the scenes 😍

👦🏽 I am a mama to a super rambunctious 5 year old, married to my college sweetheart (who prefers not to be on social media too much) & enjoying life in Denver ❤️

🪻I started studying herbalism to help myself & my family with health problems that doctors just weren’t helping with. I’m not anti medicine at all - but think herbs can be a great compliment to supporting overall wellness!
