What we do here at Sarah’s is give our residents the chance to live a more productive and better quality of life. The seniors at Sarah’s are low-income senior citizens that choose not to live in a nursing home and would like to continue having a choice on where they live. Sarah’s Residential allows seniors to live independently as much as possible, in a home like atmosphere. The resident is currently full with a waiting list of 3. It is rare in today’s business world to find housing developments dedicated to low to moderate-income seniors. That is exactly what Sarah’s Residential Living, Inc has done. The current average cost of a semi-private room in Oklahoma is $47,450 per year. The cost of care at Sarah’s is $24,000 per year. The average resident is able to contribute less than $12,000 per year. In order to serve five full-time residents, we need $65,000 in funding support per year. Our long-term goal is to fund and sustain the program for five elders followed by increasing capacity with five (5) additional Tulsa north locations. We appreciate your support of senior programs and hope the Tulsa Community Foundation will consider creating a grant in Sarah’s behalf. Sarah’s Residential Living is also working with Oklahoma State Representative of District 72 Seneca Scott. The goal is to change legislation that allows Medicare and Medicaid to deny reimbursing residential assisted living expenses. The fastest growing percentage of our population is 85 and older. The U.S. population aged 65 and older will double to 71 million (20% of the population) by 2030. Starting in 2011, more than 10,000 people will turn 65 every day and will continue for 20 years. Our elders are facing an unprecedented crisis we are wholly unprepared to address. Experts note a narrow "window" of opportunity for planners and policy makers to protect the quality of life for our elders. Sarah's Residential team is committed to actively seeking solutions and building capacity for the most impoverished seniors in Tulsa. Sarah’s Residential would also like to build an assisted living facility on property at Apache and Lewis Ave. Funding is needed for this type of project and we have included scope of work.
