BLACK (HIS)TORY MESSAGE OF THE MONTH:

I to am a victim of not believing, not because my love for God is tarnished, but because my own faith is not strong in him. We as black Americans seek out results but fail to realize that faith cannot be seen nor translated. We as Black Americans have been zombies to Gods word. We have been taught that, "seeing is believing", but Jesus put his faith in the form of a mustard seed!
Now the mustard seed is 10x smaller than the average pebble but when your faith grows with God you will see that there are many, many more mustard seeds near that one you found. We have little faith and much doubt that WE as a people, as a nation, as a society don't believe what's simply in our visions. Well with just a little FAITH, we won't need to see to believe cause God's guidance will carry us down the right path! WAKE UP MY PEOPLE.

"Selfish Prayer"

selfishness or selflessness
Words that are easily abandoned
Maintained inside, easily managed

But who are we to say, or call on when we are in need?
The good god above is the one I call on in deed

My god, my god why has thou forsaken me
Words I know all to well, but why is he to blame?

Im in the world of sin with a want to get out,
But that price is costly,
Is there an easier way out?

No, dear friend but one thing I know,
Prayer changes things!!
And I have a blessing to claim...

Looking back my prayer was for the world around me
Why must I pray for a world when the outcome is written.

Only 144 thousand shall go,
So I see now there is no room to boast.

Today when I pray, ill admit im selfish, Im selfish because he tells me to request for myself and all shall be granted.

He ask for me to give my all and in return my riches will be foretold.

So I pray to his name, the only time I drop to my knees and its not invain.

I stretch my arms to the sky,
letting go of all my pride!!
Because in his eyes I'm letting everything go and making heaven my sight.

And whats the price of that?
Just a lil time nothing to costly...

So drop to your knees and give him a dime.
he doesn't require much...
Just all of your time...

MissMeloVi (Melody Vinnett) is a singer/songwriter from Tulsa, OK. She has been singing since she was just 2 years old and writing since she learned how to read. She first started singing onstage with her church's youth praise & worship team, and from the age of 14 when she sang her first lead solo, she knew that was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. From there, Melody went on to sing with a gospel group, One Generation of Praise in which she spent 8+ years developing her knowledge of the arts & entertainment industry as well as her vocal ability and creative writing skills. She also excelled in her studies of vocal performance and arts administration at the prestigious University of Tulsa. Determined on perfecting her excellence, Melody continued to pursure her career in music as a solo artist after the group parted in 2009. She released her first album as MissMeloVi, "C'est la Vi" on November 11th, 2011 with a dynamic concert performance.
Her album features all original compositions in multiple genres with catchy rhythms and melodies and lyrics that mirror her own life circumstances. Melody's motivation comes from a desire to share her inspirational life story and promote a positive alternative to today's popular music among people all over the world.
She truly lives by her motto, "Love Life. Live Life. Give Life. C'est la Vi."

OSU Tulsa will be hosting 2 events for Black History Month which are open to the public!
Feb 23, 2012 (Thurs)- An author who was mentored by a black man to become a doctor will be speaking about his life and autographing his book
Feb. 29, 2012 (Wed.)- There will be "A Taste of Soul" Soul Food Dinner!
