Thank you Mayor Nichols for all you do!

Across the city, Tulsans continue to show up for one another. During this extreme cold, I visited the CREOKS Winter Weather Shelter and the Tulsa Dream Center West - places that are providing warmth, safety, and support when it’s needed most. Right now, more than 1,100 people are sheltered across Tulsa, which is a direct result of the tireless work of shelter staff, outreach teams, and nonprofit partners stepping up around the clock.

I also stopped by our East Maintenance Yard during shift change, where City crews are coming and going as they treat roads and respond to winter conditions. It was also great to spend time with the men and women keeping our trucks running and working behind the scenes to keep Tulsa’s streets clear and safe.

As for an update on our winter weather response, our street crews remain in 24-7 operations and are working on plowing and salting our main roads. We will see a re-freeze overnight and the cold temperatures will be hanging around through the week. With that, City Hall and all public facing City facilities will be closed tomorrow, Jan. 26. At CREOKS, we are committed to supporting your journey to long-term recovery. We are excited to announce that we now have Recovery Housing Funds available to assist with sober living options!

These funds support stays at: ✅ OKARR Certified Housing ✅ Oxford Housing

Did you know? CREOKS operates two OKARR Certified Level 3 women’s sober living homes—one in Okmulgee and one in Okemah, OK.

A true family affair at the CREOKS Winter Shelter! ❄️❤️

While our community faces the biggest winter storm since 2011, our CEO Brent Black led by example, bringing his family along to serve. His wife, Rachel, utilized her skills as an RN to run a much-needed med-clinic at the shelter, with their daughter, Faith, jumping in to assist. 🩺🩹

It’s inspiring to see the Black family dedicate their time and expertise to ensure our guests stay healthy and safe during these extreme temperatures and snow. What a powerful way to give back!
