It’s finally here!!!
The Sip & See: Postpartum Training Course

For the past year, it’s been on my heart to bring back my 4th Trimester Course (Postpartum and Lactation support). This time, it is returning with a new focus - created specifically for birthworkers and community supporters who are ready to deepen their knowledge and feel more confident offering support through postpartum.

We are centering culturally rooted care, Black maternal health, and accessible lactation support. Topics will focus on historical and systemic context, advocacy fundamentals, and breastfeeding/postpartum basics.

I’m thrilled to expand that guidance through mentorship and this course.

While this upcoming workshop (May) is currently filled - there will be more dates coming soon. STAY TUNED!

Come sip and see the future of community based care 🫶🏾🤎

DID YOU KNOW that the Alabama Department of Public Health has refused to allow midwives to provide newborn screening to babies born at home stating that a physician must perform the tests? However, in hospitals and in physician offices ancillary staff, not necessarily even a nurse, performs these screening tests. Physicians do not collect the blood specimens and run the pulse oximetry and hearing screening devices.

Newborn Screening is within midwives' training and scope of practice. Midwives could collect the blood specimens and have the results sent to the baby's physician.

Instead of seeing to restrict midwives, Alabama Department of Public Health could recognize that midwives can be a part of the solution to ensure these public safety screenings are performed in a timely manner.
