Clinical supervision isn't "one size fits all." Supervising child and play therapy requires a specific set of ethical and developmental lenses. As a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, I bring those insights into my 15-hour general supervisor training. Whether you work with adults or children, you’ll leave with a more diverse toolkit for handling complex cases.

Supervising a "relational" case is different than supervising individual therapy. With a PhD in Human Development and years of experience as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, I specialize in the systemic side of things. If you’re an MFT or a counselor working with families, you need a supervisor training that understands systemic evaluation and "self-of-the-supervisor." Come learn the nuances of the parental alliance and family dynamics.

Are you just "checking a box" for your 15-hour supervisor requirement? Idaho has a dearth of clinical supervisors, but the field needs quality mentors, not just signatures. My training isn’t pre-recorded modules from out-of-state. It’s a live, interactive 15-hour workshop designed by an AAMFT Approved Supervisor who actually practices here in Idaho. Let’s move beyond "compliance" and into true clinical excellence.

Just as therapists need supervision to refine their clinical work, clinical supervisors need mentorship to refine their teaching and evaluative skills. This is often called Supervision-of-Supervision. This advanced level of training focuses on the "Self-of-the-Supervisor", identifying how your own leadership style, biases, and clinical philosophy influence the growth of your supervisees. By participating in structured mentorship, supervisors learn to navigate complex administrative duties, gatekeeping responsibilities, and the ethical nuances of managing a team of clinicians.

Because mentorship requires a close alignment of foundational principles, those who participate in our 15-hour "Fundamentals of Effective Clinical Supervision" training will be given first priority to participate in supervision mentoring with Dr. Whitehead. This ensures a seamless transition from learning the core Idaho requirements to applying them in a mentored, real-world context.

Clinical supervision often relies on retrospective reports—what a therapist remembers about a session after it is over. Live supervision changes that dynamic by allowing the supervisor to observe the session in real-time through video feeds or co-facilitation. This "in-the-moment" feedback helps emerging therapists build immediate confidence and responsiveness to complex client needs. In our advanced supervision modules, we explore the logistical and relational considerations of this method, ensuring it is implemented ethically while preserving the therapeutic alliance between the clinician and the family.

A successful supervisory relationship starts with a solid contract. Does yours clearly outline your emergency protocols? Your philosophy of therapy? Your expectations for "Self-of-the-Therapist" work? In this workshop, we don't just talk theory; we help you build the actual Supervision Agreement you will use. Our goal is to ensure that both you and your supervisee have a roadmap that prevents boundary blur and fosters professional safety.

One of the most challenging roles of a supervisor is "Gatekeeping"—the ethical obligation to ensure that only competent clinicians enter the field. This goes beyond simple corrections; it involves documenting growth and addressing remediation when necessary. We spend 3 hours of our workshop specifically on Supervisory Ethics and Boundaries, providing you with clear frameworks for evaluative feedback and the legal nuances of vicarious liability.

Clinical supervision is a "triadic" relationship. When a supervisee is stuck with a family, they often bring that family's dynamics into the supervision room—a process known as Parallel Process. Our course teaches you how to identify these patterns in real-time. By understanding systemic alliances, you can help your supervisees navigate "high-conflict" cases without getting triangulated themselves.

Moving from being a great clinician to being a great supervisor is more than just having "more experience." It requires a shift from focusing on the client to focusing on the clinician's process. In our 15-hour training, we break down the Developmental Model of Supervision. We explore how to adjust your feedback style as your supervisee grows from a "dependent" beginner to an "autonomous" colleague.
