I just attended a webinar on the topic of constipation- I know my life is interesting… to be coveted by many. Haha.

If you are struggling, may I offer some suggestions?Some of the words I mention, that are markers on the GI MAP that I analyze for clients, may mean nothing to you. So just trust me that these results will be amazing for your gut!

Flax seeds: 10g- These are high in omega-3 and most clients were better by 8 weeks some by week 4

Fruit, in general speeds gut transit (all except bananas)

Kiwis: 2 whole per day- Most clients are better within 4 weeks and have more bowel movements per week and feel less of the sensation of an incomplete bowel movement

Mango: 300g for 4 weeks- stool formation improves, decreases inflammatory markers and less endotoxins. Lactobacillus, butyrate and diversity increase in the gut microbiome.

Red Dragon fruit (not white): 225g fresh or frozen or powder. Akkermansia increases, anti-inflammatory.

Science! I love my continuous glucose monitor. I ate a BIG meal and my glucose shot up to 156- highest it has been. I took a 9 minute walk and instantly, it started lowering. Down to 122 and now at 108. I love real time data. Walking after meals is said to lower glucose and now I have the proof in my own body!

Did you know? Cheese is sugar. Lactose intolerant means you are unable to process lactose (the sugar in milk). Also, it is a casomorphine. Cheese is mildly addictive due to its protein casein, which your body breaks down into casomorphin. Does the second part of that word remind you of anything? Morphines? These compounds attach to dopamine receptors in your brain, triggering cravings for similar foods. They are a group of opioid-agonists that can have effects on the gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular, neurological, and endocrine systems.

An interesting side fact is that people on the autism spectrum seem to be more sensitive and a gluten free and casein (the protein in milk) diet is recommended. Here is why a dairy free lifestyle is recommended:

Some studies have found that children with autism have higher levels of casomorphin in their urine than children without autism.

Minimal effort. Nutrient dense.
Turn oven on broil (550 F)
Wash and chop potatoes- add salt and garlic powder and some avocado oil spray…air fryer at 400 F for 25 minutes. Marinated flank steak is cooking meanwhile- 6-7 minutes each side under 550 F broil- top rack. The last 6-8 minutes of air fry (depends on thickness of asparagus- this was 6 minutes)- add asparagus to air fryer. Asparagus had coarse salt and sprayed with avocado oil.
