Keep feet healthy with these tips

Wearing shoes all day or walking around barefoot can be hard on the feet. Keep feet clean and free of bacteria with these tips:

👟 Keep feet dry - Fungal infections thrive in warm, moist conditions. Wear shoes made of breathable material, wear moisture-wicking socks, and always allow shoes to air out after every wear.

👟 Avoid walking barefoot - It’s the easiest way to pick up fungal and bacterial infections.

👟 Change socks and shoes regularly - Feet contain sweat glands and shoes and socks absorb much of the moisture from feet, which can spread bacteria and fungus’. Avoid wearing the same shoes over and over, and ensure socks are always clean and dry.

👟 Check feet regularly - Checking the hands and skin on the body is quite common, but feet often get left out. Checking feet regularly helps to catch any issues early on and can prevent further complications and infections.

Is garlic a good anti-fungal?

It’s been said to keep vampires away, but turns out that garlic can also keep fungus away.

This is due to two powerful compounds: ajoene and allicin. The former is an organosulfur compound that has been shown to kill a variety of fungal infections, while the latter exhibits potent antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Make a paste with crushed garlic and mix with coconut oil (also an anti-fungal). Apply a thin later to the affected area and cover with gauze for 2 hours before rinsing. Use up to 2 times per day.

If you haven’t invested in a bottle of tea tree oil, it’s time to do so. Most conventional over-the-counter antifungals work, but they cause irritation and can sometimes do more harm than good.

Why take the risk if there’s something just as powerful for clearing up nail fungus and completely natural?

Research shows that pure tea tree oil is effective for inhibiting growth of certain strains of fungus when applied directly to the affected area. It improved symptoms of scaling, itching, and inflammation. 🔥🔥

🔥 BEST WAYS TO BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM 🔥

Given the current circumstances, having a strong immune system is critical to staying healthy and avoiding any sort of infection. Do these things daily to boost your immunity and keep your body functioning like it’s supposed to!

➡️ EXERCISE. Physical activity increases flow of blood and lymph fluid due to muscle contractions, thereby also increasing the circulation of immune cells, making them roam the body at a higher rate and in higher numbers.

➡️ SLEEP ENOUGH. Sleep is critical for a strong immune system. During sleep, specific cytokines are released that help to combat infection or inflammation, but when the body is sleep deprived, release of these protective compounds decreases, increasing susceptibility to illness.

➡️ EAT SOME HONEY. Raw manuka honey has a ton of anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-parasitic properties. Drizzle is on your food or plop a little bit into your tea or coffee.

➡️ TRY A COLD PLUNGE (OR SHOWER). Evidence suggests that a cold plunge, or even just a cold shower, increases concentration and activity of immune cells.

➡️ DITCH THE SUGAR. Sugar suppresses the immune system, so if you’re looking to fight off that cold or foot fungus, sugar isn’t going to be your friend. Swap the sugar in your coffee for a natural alternative like stevia or monk fruit, find better alternatives for refined grains (yes, they break down into sugar), and say no to that donut (although every once in a while it won’t kill you).

Whether you’re wearing shoes all day or walking around bare feet, it’s hard to keep your feet clean and free of bacteria. Here’s how to stay away from fungal infections:

👣 Keep your feet dry - Fungal infections thrive in warm, moist conditions. Wear shoes made of breathable material, wear moisture-wicking socks, and always allow your shoes to air out after every wear.

👣 Avoid walking barefoot - It’s the easiest way to pick up fungal and bacterial infections. If you need to, ensure you’re washing and drying your feet properly afterwards.

👣 Change your socks and shoes regularly - Your feet have sweat glands and your shoes and socks absorb any moisture from your feet, which can spread bacteria and fungus’. Avoid wearing the same shoes over and over, and ensure you’re wearing clean, dry socks.

👣 Treat your feet - Aside from getting a pedicure regularly (whether you’re male or female), it’s important to take care of your feet. Fungus enters the body through cracks in your feet. To avoid this, use a pumice regularly to smooth out your feet and remove dead, cracked skin.

👣 Pay attention to them - Most people pay attention to their hands and skin on the body, but who actually looks at their feet regularly? If you don’t, start! Catching any issues early can prevent further complications and infections.

TOP 5 NATURAL ANTI-FUNGALS

Sure, over-the-counter medications work wonders for dealing with fungal infections, but why spend the money when you probably have anti-fungals right in your own home?

1️⃣ Garlic: It’s been said to keep vampires away, but turns out it also keeps fungus away. This is due to the powerful compound, ajoene, an organosulfur compound that has been shown to kill a variety of fungal infections. Make a paste with crushed garlic and mix with coconut oil. Apply a thin later to the affected area and cover with gauze for 2 hours before rinsing. Use up to 2 times per day.

2️⃣ Undecylenic acid (castor oil): Undecylenic acid is an unsaturated fatty acid derived from castor oil. It’s a powerful antifungal that helps to inhibit growth of fungus’ and biofilm formation (biofilms prevent antifungals from getting through).

3️⃣ Coconut oil: As a rich source of caprylic acid, coconut oil is great for killing fungal infections due to its ability to rupture their cell membranes. Apply it to the affected area 3 times per day.

4️⃣ Grapefruit seed oil: Just like undecylenic acid, grapefruit seed extract’s powerful antifungal properties come from its ability to disrupt bacterial cell walls and destroy the fungus. Apply to the affected area 2-3 times daily.

5️⃣ Oil of oregano (wild oregano): If you’ve ever tasted it, you know it’s powerful stuff. Oil of oregano contains two powerful antifungals--thymol and carvacrol. Apply up to 3 times per day on the affected area, but always dilute before using directly on skin.

Here are a few tips that could help maintain healthy and clean nails as we approach the summer months:

#1: Disinfect Shoes – Certain types of fungus could remain for some time. Consider using an ultraviolet shoe sanitizer to help get the job done.

#2: Wear Breezy Socks – Sweat is not very helpful when it comes to fungus. Socks that are breathable and keep moisture from collecting around the feet are a good idea.

#3: Sanitize Clippers – Soak used clippers in boiling water, scrub with dish soap, then wipe down with a paper towel before use!

Did you know Mentholated topical ointments could help treat toenail fungus?! 🤷

Doctors often recommend these types of ointments to help treat cough and cold symptoms.

The same active ingredients in mentholated ointments — menthol, eucalyptus oil, and camphor — have other properties that may be effective in treating toenail fungus.

In fact, one small study examined the use of one of these ointments to treat toenail fungus.

All 18 participants reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the results of using the rub on their toenail fungus. However, mentholated topical ointment cured just five participants at the end of the 48-week-long study.

More research is needed to prove further that a mentholated ointment is an effective option for treating toenail fungus.

But so far, the results are promising...

So how exactly do you use Mentholated topical ointments❓

Apply mentholated ointment directly to the affected nail. Do this about once a day for several weeks or until the nail shows noticeable improvements.

Fungal infections of the nails can be a persistent and sometimes embarrassing problem, and occasionally can become painful!

These infections develop when fungi - known as dermatophytes - burrow under nails, causing them to become crusty, thick, discolored, and distorted. 👣

There are different ways to treat fungal infections.

Whatever treatment you choose, take these precautions to prevent recurrences:

✅Keep your feet as clean and dry as possible
✅Wear waterproof sandals at swimming pools or other wet public areas
✅Change your socks daily
✅Clip toenails straight across and keep them shorter than the tips of your toes
✅Avoid tight hosiery, which promotes moisture retention, and wear synthetic fabric socks that wick moisture away from feet better than cotton or wool

Lavender oil could be used to combat the increasing incidence of antifungal resistant infections.

The essential oil shows a potent anti-fungal effect against strains of fungi responsible for common skin and nail infections.

To begin treating nail fungus:

🔹Thoroughly wash and dry your feet.
🔹Using nail clippers cut off as much of the infected damaged nail as possible.
🔹Use a file to thin down any thickened portions of the nail by gently rubbing the nail surface.
🔹Put a drop of Lavender oil on the affected nail, paying attention to treat the area underneath the nail itself as well.

Toenail fungus affects the nail by taking up residence deep in the nail bed causing the nail to become thick, flaky and discolored. This is why the regular removal of the infected nail areas is an important part of treating nail fungus.

For severely infected nails, Tea Tree Oil combined with Lavender oil can increase the effectiveness of the treatment.

Simply apply one drop of each oil to each affected nail surface at least two times per day, three times would be ideal.

❗️Did you know?

🌽 Cornmeal contains a fungus that is harmless to the body but still kills the infectious fungus. 🌽

To make the cornmeal soak, put about an inch of cornmeal in a shallow container that will just fit the affected foot.

Carefully pour about an inch of warm (not hot) water on top of the cornmeal and let it sit for an hour, so the water and cornmeal can combine naturally. After an hour, add enough additional warm water to cover the foot and soak for 60 minutes.

The mush must cover the whole area, not just the toenails, because fungus thrives everywhere on the toes, especially between them.

After an hour, rinse the mush off with warm water and pat the foot dry with a clean towel.

Soak the toenails once a week until the fungus clears up. 👣

There are plenty of challenges that the world can throw at you… and your feet are no exception!

One thing that can be a serious problem is toenail fungus. It can lead to an ugly foot, lower self-esteem, and hesitation wearing open toed shoes. And in severe cases it can lead to pain, itching, and more. 👣

Luckily, there are options out there that can help. And best of all, there are natural options as well – including the use of powerful essential oils that can help to stop toe fungus in its tracks.

There are plenty of reasons that trying a natural essential oil treatment for nail fungus makes sense:

🔸No chemical additives
🔸Cheaper than expensive creams and washes
🔸No harmful potential side effects
🔸It provides additional aromatherapy benefits along with improving nail health

Choosing the natural route could help your feet and toes look and feel better without the need for over the counter creams, sprays, and other treatments.

Of course, talking to a medical professional is always important when you notice changes to the health of your feet. But if it’s determined that a fungus is present and not some larger underlying condition, essential oils could be worth thinking about. 🤔😉

If you are afflicted by discolored, brittle, and warped toenails, this could imply that you have a fungal contamination.

Toenail fungus generally doesn’t cause any ache, but it could get uncomfortable or painful to even wear footwear overtime!

Here are some ways to avoid having a fungus on your toenail: 🦶

🔸Stop eating sugar

Sugary foods and ye**ty foods can worsen Candida — that’s a fungus in itself! To stop it from festering to your frame and in your skin, cut off the foods that it loves & up your intake of fermented foods, like kombucha.

🔸EXERCISE!

When you exercise, your blood pumps quicker around your frame.

This approach can help herbal and toxin-flushing vitamins work more effectively and target problem regions quicker!

🔸Keep those toes dry: This is paramount for beating nail fungus.

Since the Candida and fungus thrive in moisture and heat, it’s crucial to keep your feet as dry as possible.

Taking these steps, in addition to other natural remedies, will have you feeling fungus-free!

They say you never appreciate something until it’s gone – and that’s definitely true when it comes to clear, uninfected nails! 😭

But don’t worry! There’s a lot of remedies out that people find help them clear out their fungal nail infections… and Listerine is just one example!

You might be more used to using Listerine to keep your breath fresh, but ingredients like menthol, thymol, and eucalyptus that help clean your mouth are also known for their antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Here’s how you can use it to get rid of your toenail infection:

👣 Find a tub that you can comfortably fit both your feet into
👣 Fill the tub with 1 part Listerine to 2 parts warm water and/or vinegar
👣 Make sure there’s enough to cover your feet fully when you put them in the tub
👣 Let your feet soak in the mixture for 45-60 minutes
👣 Repeat daily until your fungus clears up

And if you want to help prevent re-infection, you could also use the same soak occasionally as a preventative measure.
