Wouldn’t you like your hair done occasionally. How about a mani or pedi? All you need is transportation that will fit your wheelchair or walker and your off to the races?

I recently had a client who said “I wish I could see Larry again. I haven’t seen him in 30 years but we talk on the phone”. I found out he was just 45 minutes away and two old friends were reunited.

Aside from everyday assistance for our life activities we have broaden our services to include those mentioned above and weekly lunches.

Well I am branching out to include caregiving for dogs. The costs of a vet has become so high that it is hard to have a pet on a budget. It is essential that puppies get their first 3 rounds of shots and except a rabies shots I can provide those at a much lower cost than your vet. I also provide grooming services and in-home pet sitting services.

"If I could live my life over again, I would have gone to bed to rest when I felt sick instead of pretending the earth would stop if I wasn't at work for a day... I would have burned the pink candle carved like a rose instead of leting it melt in the pantry... I would have talked less and listened more... I would have invited friends to the table even if there is a stain on the carpt and the couch needs to be cleaned. I would have eaten popcorn in the "good" room and wouldn't have worried so much about dust when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace. I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather telling stories from his youth. I would never have insisted on driving with the car windows down on a beautiful summer day, just because my hair was freshly styled and fixed. I would have been lying on the meadow with my head on the grass. I would have cried and laughed less watching TV and more watching life. But, most of all, to have a second chance at life, I would cherish every moment, I would really look at it... I would live it... I wouldn't get so worked up over petty and petty things anymore... Don't worry about those who don't like you, or rather, you shouldn't care who does what... Instead, let's cherish the friends we have and the people who love us... And to what we do every day to improve our mind, body, soul, emotions."

I've got haircuts for $20 if you have short hair. I'm not a hairdresser but so far my clients like what I do.

I just read another great book about Dementia. I think it's the 4th edition published in 2022 but it really gets into more detail about the differences between Alzheimer's we once knew it and Dementia. As they continue to dive into the intricacies of the disease and its challenges for our medical profession. Diagnosis has led to other dementias and clinical observations have ruled out Alzheimer's. Confusing, isn't it? Try this book so that as a primary caregiver when you go to the doctor with them, you may recognize and understand some of the terms and concepts they use.

"What If It's Not Alzheimer's?" A Caregiver's guide to Dementia and, features the latest information on Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD). Fourth edition edited by Gary Radin and LLinda Radin

Help and discoveries bring us hope; it doesn't help the daily struggles we all go through as caregivers for our loved ones with Dementia or Alzheimer's.

I’m a caregiver who was very much in need for a break. My dog River passed and that definitely brought this aura or hanging cloud of sadness over me. I went to see my friend in Riverton, Utah and her service dog decided to bring on the love and devotion. He brought so much joy to me and my grief for River became memories of joy. Leo is my Big Man on Campus and I give respect to his natural instincts and behavior. Thank you Leo for loving me

Just a reminder that primary family caregivers can get paid through Medicare. The patients need their doctor to prescribe the need for assistance with all ADL tasks but compensation is available.

I had a recent client who had some dementia but his diagnosis was Parkinson's. He still wanted to go to the gym for boxing as he had done for 10 years. I was concerned with his ability to be stable on his feet but it was amazing as he lightly hit the bag and was able to coordinate feet and hands. Of course, he wasn't able to keep up with the class but I was happily surprised to learn the trainers at the gym encouraged this type of participation. It also gave him something to look forward to and he enjoyed it.

Just a thought for the day.

It's been on my mind about the primary family caregivers. My heart and prayers go out to you. You deal with so much including emotional grief and hurt. There are busy families who choose not to be the caregiver for their loved ones for their own reasons. But for those who do I believe you have a special place in heaven. I thank you and know "it's no picnic"!
