Cooked bones are dangerous for dogs. They can splinter and cause injuries to the mouth and teeth as well as gastric upset or intestinal blockages. Round bones can become stuck around your dog's lower jaw and may require a veterinary visit to remove. Dogs can eat a few nibbles of plain turkey, pumpkin, sweet potato, and SELECT plain, unseasoned veggies during Thanksgiving prep. They should not have any bones, fatty foods, or food that contains onion, garlic, or xylitol. Keep alcohol put away too. When everyone gathers at the table, consider having a new toy available as a safe distraction.
