Katie Nilles Sleep Consulting Pediatric Sleep Consultant based out of Richmond, TX. Hello! Each plan is customized around the child to ensure success. A restful night is possible.

Helping families teach their children independent sleeping skills and giving families hope of well rested kiddos and parents. I’m Katie Nilles, Certified Sleep Sense™ Consultant and owner of Katie Nilles Sleep Consulting, based in Richmond, TX. As a Certified Sleep Sense Consultant, it is my passion to guide parents to learn the necessary skills that teach their children to become independent slee

pers and well rested children. As a mom of two young girls, I’ve experienced plenty of sleep deprived nights, and know that life changes when everyone is sleeping well. Teaching children independent sleeping skills isn’t just about sleep, it is about their overall health, development and happiness. I work one on one with families to ensure they are confident when starting their journey to a better night sleep. I have been that exhausted and stressed-out Mama when what I thought I knew wasn’t working for my second daughter. I understand the hesitation and second guessing when things did not come as easy as they did with our first daughter. It is my purpose to be the guide, support, and the sounding board to inspire parents to make the changes towards the sleep that everyone deserves. Let me help you get there!

Let's talk about the age-old debate: lovey or pacifier? Both play a role in comforting our precious babes, but they come with their own set of pros and cons. Here's a little insight into the world of comfort objects:
The Lovey Connection: A lovey, like a soft stuffed animal or blanket, can become a source of security for your little one. It's something they can hold, snuggle, and bond with, offering comfort during sleep and moments of stress. Loveys often become a cherished companion as your child grows. They are most helpful when a child is old enough to safely sleep with it.

Pacifier Pacifier: Pacifiers, on the other hand, provide instant soothing through sucking. They can be especially helpful during the early months, offering a way to calm fussy babies. However, some parents worry about pacifier dependency and the challenge of eventually weaning from them.

The Difference: Loveys offer a lasting emotional connection and can help babies learn to self-soothe in different ways. They encourage independence and can be a constant source of comfort through the years. Pacifiers, while convenient, might require more effort to wean from and can interfere with self-soothing skills.

Introduce Early: If you're leaning towards a lovey, introduce it early so your baby can form a strong attachment.

Weaning Pacifiers: If you choose pacifiers, consider gradually reducing their use as your baby grows. This can ease the transition later on.

Safety First: Always prioritize safety. Choose age-appropriate loveys and monitor pacifier use to prevent any potential hazards.

Share Your Story!: What's your experience with loveys and pacifiers? Drop a comment below and let's chat about what works best for our little ones. Remember, there's no right or wrong choice - it's all about what brings comfort and happiness to our families.

This is my favorite stage for babies. Personalities are showing. Developmentally, you can see the new skills and watch your baby discover the world. Not getting quality sleep can affect growth and development. It is not uncommon to see a major growth spurt when working with babies this age once they are getting quality sleep.

Who knew there was a day dedicated to baby sleep?

Today was created to bring more attention to the importance of sleep for infant sleep and development, BUT also the importance of sleep for a growing family and what that means for parents when their baby is sleeping well!

What would you do with your time when your baby is taking age appropriate naps and sleeping 10-12 hours every nights?

Here we are, 3 months in and you keep hearing about the dreaded 4 month sleep regression. I remember all of the advice I received as a new mom, and non of it aligned. All of the googling, reading and I still felt confused on what I should be doing.

I am here to help!

The next 4 weeks, still focus on awake windows between naps. Bed time will be moving earlier in the evening; aim for a bedtime between 7pm-8pm.

You should have a bed time routine that is consistent by now and staying consistent is the best thing for your little one.

Ah, six whole weeks with your sweet baby! Things should be a bit more predictable now. However, naps can be all over the place still. Naps don't tend to lengthen and be more consistent until 6 months. Still follow awake windows at this age to ensure enough sleep and prevent overtiredness. Last nap of the day will be a cat nap to help your babe make it to bed time!
