ZehnderTree Genealogy Collection point for Genealogical information on the Zehnder family line coming down from Frankenmut

30/07/2022

Help me with some input, will you?
Ancestry.com has a policy of hiding information on living relatives. Given the reality of identity theft and how details included in a genealogy can help someone with bad intentions, how can I include information on living relatives in the book?
I intend to only sell copies of the book to people in the book. That said, copy machines and scanners exist.
If I avoid putting in any information about living people, one of the best features of having a book will be gone - finding out how you're related to other living people.

What do you think I could / should do? Thanks!

I have just had the benefit of reviewing Jennifer Schaudt-Seal's Ancestry family tree, the result of more than a decade of research. Thank you Jennifer for your help with this effort!

It's Time to Update Your Family Listing!

I have added files you can download and print or fill out to submit your family's information - check out https://zehndertree.com/contact/

Also, to see the updating progress, see if your household has been updated, or look for people you can research to help with this effort, check out my family updating page at https://zehndertree.com/family-update-status/

Check below to see if your household has been updated. For lack of a better organizational scheme, current households are listed with first names abbreviated, maiden and surnames spelled out. And, …

I have been researching the family tree using FindAGrave.com, a crowdsourced site connected to Ancestry.com. I've found many grave photos and information, including the fact that one of our Frankenmuth family members (RUPPRECHT) fought in the Civil war for Michigan and Illinois. Incidentally, the man married the person in our tree who was born on the boat on the way here from Germany.

The new family tree book will include military service information, burial locations, and reference information to the FindAGrave pages so you can see what I've seen. I'm really excited about sharing these resources with you.

What's next? Send me your updated family information! You can email me at metanoiaZ@zoho.com or text me at 7703758081 to learn what information is still needed. I can also schedule phone interviews, if that's easier for you.

Thanks to Connie Prok, all but one person in the image has been identified! (And apparently she is completely cut out of the image on the left.) Check out the legend at zehndertree.com/help/ if you're curious.
I intend to make this image available individually (after I get a good original scan) and it will be included in the forthcoming book.

Please send updates! If you'd like to set up a phone appointment, text, phone or email and we can work it out.

I now believe this picture is from the spring/summer of 1952. Here's how I have come to that conclusion:
1. Bonnie Hagedorn said this picture was taken in the early 1950's, which fits the clothing and hairstyles.
2. I used another photo of the Rupert Zehnder family to identify 7 Liz Puls, 42 Will and 54 Suzy Jirgens (also confirmed by Connie Prok) Will looks between 2 and 4 years old, putting the date in 1951-53 range.
3. Connie Prok identified 32 as Steve Polcha; while it does make sense that 32 is Ed Polcha's son, Steve couldn't have been born yet. I believe 32 is instead Jonathan. He looks to be walking, so at least one maybe two. That puts the picture at 1952-53
4. Combining Will and Jonathan, I believe Will is 3 (he just doesn't appear 4 to me) and Jonathan is then 1 1/2.

If there are any holes in my logic, will you identify them in the comments?

The names and ages of the people in the picture will be updated in the next day or two at zehndertree.com/help/ and I'm trying to figure out how to put the information here in a more f-book friendly way. (That's a lot of info for a page like this.)

Why is this important? Identifying the date of the picture as closely as possible will help us get the remaining 14 people based on their probable ages. It may also prove that some of them have been identified incorrectly (e.g. is 37 Kathy who would be 12 years old?).

What am I going to do with this picture? I have decided to produce a printed book of the Cleveland Zehnders - to update, clean up, and publish what Ken Fraiberg started. There's a lot of great stuff in there that would be out of place on a webpage. I have in mind to include this picture in the book and possibly also produce the picture in a frameable form for purchase by those who'd want it. (I, for one, had never seen the photo before.)

I have just finished harvesting the data from Ken Fraiberg's incomplete book. As you may know, he collected updates from the Cleveland Zehnders but passed away before being able to publish it. He received lots of great pictures and family stories. I will look for a way to convey those to you in the future.
For now, I will update the stat tables on my website and I welcome any more current data you want to pass along. Feel free to message me here, email or phone/text me. If it's easier to chat over the phone, we can work that out. God bless your day!

Just built a stats page with some information I found interesting. Check them out and let me know if there's anything you'd like to see there.

-Will you invite other Zehnders and related folks to this site? Until I build a newsletter, this is the easiest way to get the word out about this work.

- I've been told the email addresses I have through the ZehnderTree website don't work. They seem to work when I try them. So, if you have a minute, will you try sending a message to admin@zehndertree.com? Thanks.

- Behind the scenes, I've been cleaning up my database and preparing an interface so I can easily incorporate Ken Fraiberg's collected information.

Current status: putting Connie (Zehnder) Prok's 1981 genealogy book information into a database. After that, I'll put in the Cleveland Zehnder information collected by Ken Fraiburg. In the meantime, if you have any updates to your tree, send them to rake@zehndertree.com.

Please send an invite to any Zehnders or otherwise related folks!
Thanks!
God Bless your Day!
