🌈 What a weekend! Huge thanks to everyone who stopped by the Roberts Counseling booth at Dixon Pride — especially those of you who rocked our rainbow mustaches with pride (and style). Whether you grabbed a temporary tattoo, shared a smile, or won some of our cash-for-‘stache, we were so grateful to celebrate with you.

This was only our second year attending Sauk Valley Pride’s Dixon event, but it already feels like tradition. It was a joy reconnecting with the community and showing our ongoing support for our LGBTQ+ neighbors and loved ones. The warmth, laughter, and shared moments made it an unforgettable day.

Another exciting announcement for Roberts Counseling and our new Rock Falls location!

Joining our team is Licensed Clinical Social Worker: Jen Payne. Jen has been working with youth and families for over 10 years and has extensive experience in the areas of substance abuse and recovery, child welfare, school social work, and community mental health. She takes a client-centered, trauma informed, holistic approach to therapy focusing on all dimensions of clients wellbeing.

Jen's areas of special interest include LGBTQ+ and gender issues, religious trauma, and alternative relationships including open and ethical non-monogamy. She also works with clients struggling with depression and anxiety as well as other issues.

We are so excited to introduce one of our newest therapists who will primarily work out of our new Rock Falls location: Morgan Donaldson, LPC!

Morgan is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has over 7 years of experience she will bring with her to Roberts Counseling. She is open to new clients ages 11 and older, and is currently in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, and we expect her to be able to take other types of insurance in the next few weeks.

Here is a little more about Morgan:

"I believe therapy should be tailored to the individual and flow like a natural conversation with connection and authenticity between the client and therapist. I bring a nonjudgmental approach to therapy by allowing clients to feel heard and navigate the world in a safe space that promotes inner healing and growth. Clients describe me as 'warm and inviting, supportive yet challenging.'

My experience entails work with both adults and adolescents, where I am person-centered and strive to meet each client where they are at. My expertise includes anxiety and depression, trauma healing, grief and loss, interpersonal issues, stress management and social justice advocacy. I utilize a number of evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapies, motivational interviewing and mindfulness. I implement expressive interventions, such as role-playing, journaling, self-reflective art of interest and out-of-session exercises, as I believe the client is the expert of their own life and their healing journey is ultimately in their hands; I am just here to offer authenticity, support and validation.

Whether you feel stuck, lost, unheard or nothing at all, let’s start with where you are at and flow together. I can promise you a safe space to share your thoughts, experiences and feelings, where together we will get you to a place of inner peace, healing and growth.
