🍂🍁Thoughts from my meditation this morning: The Fall season has had me reflecting on my accomplishments thus far. I have been working hard at creating my business and providing resources for you all. I noticed that I had signed up for another course in Yoga with so much already on my plate - A tendency of mine that I and my loved ones know all to well about.

I know many mothers as well trying to find more spaciousness in their lives. Having children and creating both are very exhaustive and rewarding efforts but should we find we are overwhelming the self with too many efforts, we can cut back or ask for help.

I decided to take some of the things off of my plate that are not “needs” and put them for a few months down the line; For subtracting out things that are not totally necessary for me in my life. We are as much a part of nature as anything else on our good Earth.

Just as the leaves start to fall (I’m in Southern California, so I’ll use my imagination), so do we humans and other creatures start to slow down in our activities and start to shed the old leaves, so to speak.

If we understand the connection we have to the seasons, we can better manage our stress and care for our beloved self and in turn others.

What feelings come up for you in the fall?

❤️‍🔥🏆How do we develop discipline? How often do we challenge ourselves?

I completed my first ever Olympic Triathlon a year ago.

I consider myself a long distance runner for sport. I have been running since high school, it was a form of self soothing, helping me to process emotion grew into a young adult.

I started cycling after I moved to a bicycle friendly university. Then I purchased my first new road bike in 2021 anticipating I would do something great with it.

I love the water especially swimming in the ocean. At the time I was recovering from a bit of trauma- the ocean helped to sooth me whether it was a walk along the beach or dip in the water. On the other hand would not consider myself a strong swimmer. I could not swim very long distances without feeling winded. “It’s okay to not be good at everything Natalie, I told myself.” Still I wasn’t convincing myself that staying that way would be acceptable. I wanted to become a better swimmer, so I signed up for a triathlon.

Swim meets hosted by my friend , were held every Saturday. I showed up to the swim meets even though I felt I like I was the slowest one in the group- often objectively this was true. I resale did not like the swim practice because I wasn’t the best at it. Then I felt two major feelings- humbled & determined. I knew my body was capable of completing a triathlon it was just a mater of will.

I completed my race & with medal in hand, I felt I now embodied the strong woman that I am. To accomplish something like this is something I am very proud of myself for. I can achieve greatness if I am determined. One thing is certain things never stay the same.

When we show up to trainings consistently. It takes perseverance but also self understanding- knowing I was not setting out to be the best swimmer, I just wanted to accomplish swimming the .9 miles that were what the triathlon required. Having a goal of becoming the best is also okay. The world need all variety the motivation to achieve greatness.
