What did you learn about colostrum while on your breastfeeding journey?

I tell people this all the time. The wearable pumps are SO HANDY, but they can actually hurt your milk supply if you are using them as your primary pump.

If you are pumping very often (exclusive pumper) or during work hours, your primary pump should be a stand alone pump. Some of these need to be plugged in and some of them can be charged.

Wearable pumps, although very convenient, should not be primary pumps. They are as efficient at removing milk and can affect supply if that is all you are using.

If you are pregnant and looking to receive a pump from your insurance, choose a primary pump that is not wearable. 🥰

This is something I wish I knew about when I had newborns! If engorgement is making it hard to latch your baby properly, reverse pressure softening is a great tool!

Do you know what REVERSE PRESSURE SOFTENING is?

-Sometimes when you get a lot of IV fluids during labor it can cause your baby to retain fluids and be swollen.
-This can make it difficult to latch your baby, your ar**la (the area around your ni**le) can be swollen.
-By applying pressure around the ni**le (like the picture), the fluid can leave that space and result in your ni**le being more erect, thus easier to latch on for your baby!
