TBH got to participate in the first annual Chili Kickoff with Evergreen Lifestyle Center through Senior Resources of Guilford County! 🌶️

We had a great time sharing our anti-inflammatory, brain-healthy recipe, The Cognitive Crockpot. And let’s be clear, the winners of the competition earned it. Some seriously good chili was served.

Community, connection, and brain health (with a little spice). We’re all about it 😉

Today marks 5 years of Tailored Brain Health.

I can't get through this post without getting emotional.

Five years ago today, this practice began entirely virtually, still in the thick of the pandemic, amid uncertainty, isolation, grief, and a lot of “we’ll figure this out as we go." (Anxiety, anyone?) There was no clear road to scale, just a hope and a prayer, and deep commitment to showing up and doing meaningful work in a moment when people really needed it - and when *I* really needed it.

Fast forward to today, and the numbers stopped me in my tracks:

• 500+ patients served
• 5,000+ appointments held
• A team of *5* clinicians

Apparently, 5 is our number 😊

I stand humbled and in awe (all God's glory.) I’m so proud of what this has become, grateful beyond words for our clients and community, and genuinely excited for where things are headed.

Here’s to 5 years - and to trusting in everything that is yet to unfold. 💜🧠

Today I had the pleasure of attending the Triad Retirement Living Association meeting hosted by HealthTeam Advantage at Christ United Methodist Church.

It was a meaningful time reflecting on the past year and looking ahead to what’s coming next — with a shared focus on advocacy, connection, and education for older adults and those who serve them.

I’m continually encouraged by the collaboration and heart in this community, and grateful to be part of conversations that move our work forward in thoughtful and impactful ways.

Bonus: getting to catch up with our friends from Arosa!

Looking forward to another year of learning, partnering, and serving together.

Have you ever noticed how miserable it feels to be stuck in your own head?

That tight, looping, self-preoccupied place where every thought circles back to me…my worries, my failures, my pain, my fear. It’s exhausting. And isolating. And honestly, it can feel like a prison.

Gratitude isn’t the glossy, “everything is great” lens we sometimes make it out to be. It’s not pretending things don’t hurt. It’s not slapping a silver lining on real pain.

Real gratitude is harder than that.

It’s digging when you don’t feel like it.
It’s staying curious instead of collapsing inward.
It’s hunting for what’s still true, still meaningful, still alive…even here in this space or in this season.

Gratitude, the honest kind, breaks the spell of self-preoccupation. It shifts us from “What’s wrong with me?” to “What else is here?” And that shift can crack open the door.

Sometimes gratitude isn’t relief: it’s resistance.
Resistance against shrinking, spiraling, disappearing into your own suffering.

And sometimes, it’s the key that helps you break yourself out.

Not by denying the pain.
But by finding the treasure hidden inside it.

Sending warm Christmas wishes. Hoping this day brings peace, comfort, and time with the people who matter most. 🎄

As we wrap up the year, may you find a moment to breathe deep, celebrate what you have navigated, and close the year with an open mind and a grateful heart. 💜

With the holiday season in full swing, it can feel tempting to stay up later, pack in more events, or skip the rhythms that usually keep you grounded. But your brain thrives on consistency. Protecting your sleep is one of the simplest ways to stay present, energized, and emotionally steady for the moments that matter most.

A reminder as the holidays unfold: your sleep matters. It is the foundation for patience, calm, memory, and resilience... all the things we rely on when life gets busy. Prioritize rest, and your brain will thank you. 🙏🧠
