Cloth Face Coverings Required for NJ Shoppers
Beginning today at 8:00 PM, everyone visiting essential retail businesses and the employees of those businesses will be required to wear cloth face coverings when inside the store. Workers must be provided masks and gloves by the business and must wear gloves when in contact with customers or goods. Customers refusing to wear a cloth mask for non-medical reasons or without a mask must be denied entry to the business. While cloth face masks are the minimum requirement, customers and employees may also wear other types of masks or coverings if available.
Since supplies of masks and other PPE have been limited, the CDC has issued information on how to construct homemade masks and what household supplies are best used for masks. NTOEM would like to remind everyone that wearing masks and gloves does not make you impervious to CoVID-19 but are primarily intended to keep the wearer from spreading any illness that they might have to others. These recommendations are only to be used if you MUST visit essential retail, but every effort should be made to avoid traveling or being around others by using delivery, pick-up, or online services before leaving your home.
