This week, , a leading assistive technology company and creator of the popular AAC application TD Snap, made an abrupt decision to move from a one-time app purchase of $49.99 to a subscription-based service of $9.99 per month.
TD Snap has historically been an affordable option for many families, and one that I have personally recommended to my clients because of its bilingual capabilities and user-friendly programmability for GLPs.
states that this change is being made in order to deter third party companies from installing the app on unauthorized devices, but instead of addressing the issue at the source, they chose a solution that will negatively affect countless AAC users and their ability to access their voice.
Communication is a basic human right, not a luxury.
Communication shouldn’t be compared to a Netflix subscription.
, do better.
