Hello fellow, current and future Nurse Coaches! I wanted to jump on here and apologize for being MIA for the last few months..

Right after I quit my job in the ER and decided to fully commit to starting my coaching business I started having a lot of fears and doubts around choices I had made. I woke up every morning feeling these overwhelming feelings of what the hell am I doing?? Who am I to think that I can start another business and be successful? Fear, doubt and everything that comes along with those feelings consumed me. I knew that I needed to step away from my business and take some time for myself. I had just spent a year dealing with a pandemic and a divorce, and it had finally taken its toll on me. I decided I was going to take a couple months over the summer to take care of myself and do some traveling and spend time with my kids. I knew I needed to do some deep dive work on myself and get my head right again. I stepped away from posting on here and on FB. I shut down my website and decided I was going to put everything on hold till I felt like I was in better place mentally. We can’t help others if we aren’t helping ourselves first. We need to put on our oxygen mask before we can help others with theirs.

I have decided that I am ready to step back into Nurse Coaching. It will be at a slower pace this time around. I just really want to get back to helping other Nurse Coaches realize their dreams.

My coach sent me this today and I thought some of you might need this. I am an RN in a very busy level 2 trauma center that has been hit hard by COVID. A lot of days I feel like the carrot and/or the egg, but I find when I allow myself to focus on the positive I can be like the coffee. Who doesn’t need more ☕️ in their life?

Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity. This is one reason why meaningful change does not require radical change. Small habits can make a meaningful difference by providing evidence of a new identity. And if a change is meaningful, it actually is big. That’s the paradox of making small improvements.

Chronic diseases and conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, and many types of cancer are among the most common, costly and preventable of all health conditions.

Lifestyle Medicine uses whole foods, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connection as a primary therapeutic modality for treatment and reversal of chronic disease.

COVID-19 has shown us that we need to start taking better care of ourselves. Some of the people at greatest risk for complications from COVID-19 have the above mentioned diseases. These diseases can be reduced or even eliminated when we make the decision to take better care of ourselves.
