If there’s one movement worth practicing as you get older, it’s the squat. It helps you stand up easier, climb stairs with more confidence, and stay independent longer.

A few keys to make your squat feel better:
• Keep your heels planted
• Let your knees follow the direction of your toes
• Lower to a depth that feels controlled
• Keep your chest tall

Small improvements in this movement go a long way in everyday life.

45 minutes, 2-4 times a week.

That's all it takes to be fitter than about 90% of the population.

With some warm up and some stretching after this workout took about 35 minutes.

5 Rounds
8 Step Ups
12 Toes to Bar
16 Push Ups

For the step-ups, it's important to keep your knee cap in line with about your fourth toe. When you put your foot on the box, you should be able to see the inside of your foot. Your knee shouldn't be covering it up.

Most people aren't going to be doing toes to bar so I think a great thing to do is just to work on hanging from the bar, taking deep breaths and trying to activate your scapular muscles by keeping your elbows straight but pulling your chest up towards the bar. So in this case, instead of doing the toast bar I would have people take about six deep breaths hanging from the bar. But you can keep a toe on the ground for a little bit of support if she need.

Again, most people aren't going to be doing push-ups from the floor. So I think push-ups from elevated surface such as a bar on the rig at about waist height or pushing up from a box is a great way to do push-ups for a lot of people and probably working on 8 to 10 reps instead of 16. Keep your tummy tight and your body straight. Your hips shouldn't be moving out of line with your shoulders.

If you can't do a full body weight pull up, I recommend using your squat barbell as your pull up bar.

Your feet are in front of the bar, your hands outside your shoulders on the bar and you sit straight down. You can use your legs just enough to get your chin above the bar.

Breathe then on the way down and out on the way up.
