Su***de is 100% preventable. L.I.F.T. Beyond: Su***de Risk Asssesment and Intervention Training for School-Based Mental Health Providers continues to serve all 17 school districts of Marin County.

Overdose deaths related to fentanyl have exponentially increased among youth over the last 10 years. Substance use prevention education is more essential now than ever.

Our K(NO)W Beyond Substance Use Prevention Education delivers accurate information about substances that students need in order to make safe decisions, and the social-emotional tools to communicate those decisions effectively.

There is no replacement for offering young students the opportunity to learn about and understand their physical, emotional, and mental health and how it changes throughout adolescence. Our material offers students continued annual education at their developmental level, and establishes the themes of consent, healthy relationships, emotional coping strategies, etc. as a constant as they grow and mature. Dating Violence is not only an adult issue. Prevention starts by teaching kids about healthy relationships and behaviors.

Parenting tip: Look at the Teen Power and Control Wheel (swipe to see it) with your child. Talk through how each section allows someone to maintain power and control in a relationship. Talk about if your child has ever noticed any of these behaviors in their relationships (romantic or platonic) and what they could do in the future if they noticed them.
