it is a relationship.

each relationship is different.

breastfeeding your new baby will look differently than feeding your last baby, and/or your next baby.

no two breastfeeding journeys are the same.

Watching the bond strengthen between Dads and their babies as they learn how to best support their feeding journeys and help them to accomplish their mini milestones is one of our many favorite things to watch unfold.

Without their support, each and every day would offer so many more challenges for all of our families. We are grateful to be able to work with such devoted families.

We've all heard the phrase "sleep like a baby"...sure, they may sleep soundly, but they don't always sleep for long. It's important to have realistic expectations for night time rest as new parents.

It is totally normal (and expected) for babies to wake every two to three hours (and sometimes more frequently) throughout the day (and night!) for feeding. Sometimes, the time in between feeds varies, especially when baby is going through developmental leaps or growth spurts. They may want to nurse more at these times - this is your baby's way of signaling your body to increase milk production to keep up with their needs.

After all the hard work at home, this little one came to graduation day ready to show us ALL of his new tricks!

Some babies stay with us a little longer than others when they need additional support to achieve strong foundational skills and abilities. These early skills lay the groundwork for later developing skills and are so important for baby's success later on, especially when introducing solids and in anticipation of baby beginning to show pre-crawling skills.

Baby Bottles and Flow Rates can be very confusing!

Despite sharing labels like "slow flow" or "level 1," etc. there is a lot of inconsistency between baby brands.

Our general recommendation is to start baby on the slowest flow rate and make changes as needed depending on how they're doing - reading their cues can help us figure it out!

Is baby chugging their bottle or working too hard? Our goal is to find that just-right spot.

Do you have questions about bottle feeding your baby?

"My graduate school research focused on increasing parental access to important information regarding an infant’s sensory experiences and needs within the NICU environment. Whether an infant is premature or not, early exposures to lights, sounds, touch, smells, and tastes that are overstimulating or understimulating can have an impact on function. As OTs, we work to provide strategies that help a baby to organize their sensory experiences in a way that promotes achievement of developmental milestones, feeding success, co-regulation, parent-child bonding, and more! These strategies may include, but are not limited to: massage, skin-to-skin, gentle rocking/bouncing, learning how to read infant cues, and cultivating positive social interactions."
