I have been asked this many times since becoming a breastfeeding parent, and many more times since starting my lactation career.

I can't answer it any better than Breastfeeding Mama Talk does💖💖💖.

Why isn’t there a formula feeding week?

Oh, sweetheart… there already is. It’s called every single week of the year.

Formula companies spend billions of dollars on advertising to make sure their product is everywhere you look — on billboards, TV, social media, and even in the mail before your baby is born. They send free samples to hospitals so it’s sitting in your postpartum room waiting for you. They mail you coupons, discounts, and “welcome packs” while you’re still pregnant. They hire influencers, run nationwide ad campaigns, and have entire teams dedicated to making sure their product stays front and center.

World Breastfeeding Week is literally one week out of 52 — one week where breastfeeding gets a tiny fraction of that spotlight. It’s not about shaming anyone for how they feed their baby. It’s about giving space to a natural, beautiful, and often under-supported journey in a world that constantly tells moms to do anything but breastfeed.

So no, we don’t need a “formula feeding week.” You’ve had one. Since… forever.

This is our week. 🤱✨
