One of the most important things to remember is that feelings are not facts—and they are not forever.
We often talk about "Emotional Surfing” - just like the tide in the video.
🌊The Rise: An emotion starts small, triggered by a thought or event.
🌊The Peak: The feeling reaches its highest intensity. This is when it feels most "true" or overwhelming.
🌊The Recession: If we don’t fight the feeling or fuel it with more stressful thoughts, it naturally loses power and washes away.
When we are in the "Peak" of anxiety or sadness, we often feel like we’ll be stuck there forever. This leads to panic or unhealthy coping mechanisms just to make the feeling stop.
Instead of trying to stop the tide, try to observe it. Take a breath and tell yourself: "This is a wave. It is at its peak right now, but it is already on its way to receding."
Learning to ride these waves is a skill we practice at Sea Glass. Ready to learn to navigate your emotions? Book a free consultation call to learn more today.
