You might not feel the impact yet, but big cuts to Medicaid are in the new budget bill, and the timeline to implement is on the way.

This isn’t just about numbers in a budget. It means states will have less money for Medicaid programs, fewer people getting the care they need, and fewer families getting the support they rely on to stay afloat. People with disabilities rely on services such as home and community-based services, which are optional for states to fund. States are going to have to face budget choices in the coming years.

People with disabilities and their families are watching closely because these decisions will shape lives for years to come.

Once programs are cut, it’s hard to bring them back. The long-term effect will be felt by millions.

The 'r-word' slur is making a comeback, but disability advocates are sharing why renormalizing this type of language reverses progress and hinders inclusion. ACANY and LIFEPlan members explain why it's more than "just a word" in our newest blog post. Read it at https://acany.org/the-return-of-the-r-word-self-advocates-perspectives/

According to recent publications and growing concerns among advocacy groups, the use of the “R” word and other discriminatory language has alarmingly resurfaced in media, entertainment, and everyday conversations.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) — a transformative law that continues to shape a more inclusive and accessible world.

At LIFEPlan CCO and ACANY CCO, we honor this milestone by reaffirming our shared mission to Support and empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to live their happiest, healthiest, and most meaningful lives.

The ADA laid the foundation for equity and opportunity. Every day, our care managers build on that legacy — advocating, supporting, and walking alongside the people we serve as they pursue their goals and dreams.
Let’s celebrate progress — and keep pushing for a future where everyone belongs.
