Alzheimer’s, any of the other dementias, and the various mental illnesses are devastating to the individual, to their friends and family members, and to our economy.

An estimated 6.7 million individuals in the U.S. are living with Alzheimer’s disease as of 2023, representing about 10.8% of the population age 65 and older. By 2050 if current prevalence and aging…

The Best of Both Worlds

All my life I’ve had two conflicting career interests: mental health/social service, and business. Twenty-something years ago, I combined those two interests, and opened a state-licensed mental health agency that for ten years did great work with an amazing staff of over 200 employees. Sadly, that business eventually failed, and a dream went with it.

In the spring of 2018, I was given the chance to provide back office operations to a busy independent therapist. And I loved it! Not only that, but I felt I was doing a real service by taking on not just the billing and insurance reconciliations, but quality assurance and other basic office functions.

Within a year, several other clinicians had engaged my services, which I expanded to include program design & development for small agencies, as well as insurance credentialing - and soon I’ll offer QuickBooks supports as well as respite and temporary staffing for local providers.

It’s an exciting time as I’m once again combining my love of business and mental health/social work. I’m glad I’ve taken it all fairly slowly, to really learn the ropes of what independent clinicians need so they can focus on their clients, doing their so-very-critical work.... and I - and my staff - can take care of the rest.
