We are so excited to be a part of the change that needs to happen in order to change history. For The Village, Inc is a nonprofit organization aimed at providing birth-related services within the Black community as this is the population in America currently experiencing the highest rates of infant and maternal mortality. Our purpose is to be present to the Black peri-natal community and our goal is to create more birth workers of color in the process.
Goals for this organization will come to fruition in stages. The first stage will be to bring awareness- about Black infant and maternal health and about For The Village, Inc’s initiatives. During this stage we will also be developing a group of Black birthworkers to equip them with evidence-based training to serve expecting couples and babies.
The second and concurrent stage will be to raise funds to establish a non-profit status and eventually to provide services that will serve to educate and empower Black and birthing mothers. During this phase birth services will be provided within the community.
The third stage will be to define and embrace our roles as villagers. This stage will emphasize ways we as Black villagers can support one another. This stage will also celebrate the ways we can connect with which villagers of other ethnic backgrounds.
