Tanzanite – Rare Blue-Violet Gemstone from Tanzania

Tanzanite is a rare variety of zoisite known for its striking blue to violet color, caused by traces of vanadium within its structure. It exhibits strong pleochroism, meaning it can display different colors when viewed from different angles. This gemstone forms under high-temperature metamorphic conditions near Mount Kilimanjaro and is found only in Tanzania, making it exceptionally rare and valuable. Most tanzanite on the market is heat-treated to enhance its deep blue and violet tones, increasing its appeal in fine jewelry.
