Sitting in Sacred Circle.

The first time I sat in sacred circle was in the desert, at an all women’s retreat, where I knew no one. We weren’t allowed to wear watches (which was torture for this planner-brained gal), or have cell phones, or even talk between the particular activities we were participating in. And sitting in circle, was in a sweat-lodge-like teepee, that we had to crawl on all fours to get into. Once inside, the woman leading the ceremony started pouring water over with lava rocks, and burning sacred herbs like to***co, sage, and more. This made it tough to breathe. Many were coughing. Some had to exit. Those of us who remained, had the honor of connecting deeply. I am leaving out MANY of the sacred details, as you may be considering an experience like this and I want it to be magical for you.

And while this experience stands out in my memory, it’s not something I think EVERYONE needs in their lives.

What I do think every WOMAN needs in her life, is some experience of sitting with other women. In circle. Energetically or physically. Because the magic that happens when women gather, is transformational.

Physically, your heart rates can sync up. Your moods can align. There’s even been evidence that community thinking can happen. It’s all very mystical, sprinkled with science that I won’t bore you with.
