My name is Angela and I started Blessings January 5, 1995.
A year prior, I had gone to see a Massage Therapist to get some work done on my shoulders that were practically earrings. I was so stressed out as a single young mom, new resident and working in a job I HATED! When the therapist presented me with the bill I saw an entire days work go away and I started thinking about the value of time, money, and impact. I left feeling so much better and excited to find a solution that fed my souls desire to serve others while being fully present to raise my daughter.
While in school I discovered that the body stores every story we have experienced in our lives and not all stories are warm fuzzies! In fact, most stories include lies, limitations and reoccurring trauma cycles that leave people feeling less than the truth of them. This fascinated me, and I jumped into 850 hours of training and education into our amazing bodies.
This fascination and love of the human body took me through many evolutions of practice over the years.
The pregnant year- child birth education, nonverbal communication, basic care and feeding of the family, breast feeding support, home maintenance and organization- the list goes on and on
Athlete and performance therapies- Living across the street from a college known for it’s athletic department coupled with really great rates for college students I discovered how connected the foot is to the sight and how the swing of the leg affect the turn of the head. Helping a golf pro improve their swing and a track runner improve their 100 yard dash was proof the body is amazing.
Emotional release- the body is a store house of memories. Trauma that is not resolved lays dormant causing congestion in the body’s natural functions. All manner of life is impacted by our store house. Touching on and acknowledging the traumas creates a flow that can result in healing. Emotional release work is the foundation of all other work I do. It is only through acknowledgment of the story healing occurs.
End of Life Care- Death Doula work... this learning journey took me through the end of life process of individuals and their families. Services included, Meditation, Mentoring, Support for family members, creating closure, and holding space to create the best possible outcomes for the dying and those they leave behind.
Home Organization for families coming out of crisis. Angela saw a direct correlation to the home and the people who live in it. There is a link to chronic pain and aspects of our personal lives. Low back pain is often tied to the financial situation of the home which reflected in the state of the desk, drawers, and cabinets where finances are handled. Restless and undisciplined minds are evident in the spaces people live, eat, and rest. Every life obstacle can be seen in the home. Angela began coaching families and assisting in creating spaces that addressed the root issues and helped families create life experiences that reflected their goals instead of their traumas.
With so much experience Blessings has evolved many times. Today, Blessings is home to a myriad of services and mostly focused on honoring the human body through touch, education, and facilitation. Services no longer offered by Blessings are referred out to other highly talented professionals in the community.
Angela offers mentoring, facilitating, educating, lectures, networking, and hands on classes all aimed at expanding personal awareness and taking thought and putting it into action.
“There are no mistakes. We are all exactly where we are supposed to be, doing exactly what we are supposed to be doing. It is our right and opportunity to take what we don’t like about where we are at and change it. It is also our right to take what serves us and expand on that. If and when either change in value in our lives, then we are invited to explore our options. This life experience is the testing ground for our potential and it is only though looking in and acknowledging where we are, we know where to go from there.”
