This week, South Port Square turned up the holiday cheer—island style! Our Christmas in July celebration brought the heat and the ho-ho-ho with a double feature of fun. Residents lit up the stage in the original theater production Let’s Flamingle Under the Mistletoe, while over at Gables East, it was all about “Get Your Jingle on Island Time” with a Hawaiian Christmas twist. With an open bar, festive snacks, and endless laughter, it’s safe to say the holiday spirit showed up early—and in flip-flops.

Now we’re ready to wind down with Friday Film Flicks and a cozy seat.

It’s been a heartwarming and high-energy week here at South Port Square! We flipped into the week with a delicious Pancake Breakfast, celebrated 65 wonderful years of love with residents Nancy and Rodney Doucette, and welcomed future residents to our exclusive Captain’s Dinner—an evening of conversation and connection with our Executive Director, Brian Hess, and Director of Marketing and Sales, Sarah Easterly. Residents also enjoyed some friendly competition at the billiards table and found their rhythm during our lively Drum Circle with Pinky. Now it’s time to relax with Friday Film Flicks as we wind down the week. Stay tuned—Smita’s spectacular Christmas in July celebration is just around the corner!

This week’s Friday Film Flicks is a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of generosity that defines South Port Square. Led by Peg Grimm, President of the South Port Square Scholarship Fund, our community came together to raise over $90,000—a remarkable achievement that speaks to the deep compassion of our residents.

Thanks to their support, 18 deserving young scholars each received a total of $5,000 in scholarship awards, presented in two $2,500 installments. These gifts are more than financial assistance—they are investments in dreams, in futures, and in the values we hold dear.

Tune in to this special edition to witness the joy, gratitude, and inspiration that filled the room as these scholarships were awarded. There are no words to fully capture how deeply our residents care—but their actions tell the story beautifully.
