Our night weaning story..
the first night was hard.
Multiple hours of tears and frustration. I wore her in a carrier and spoke softly to her the entire time.. we finally fell asleep not long before dawn with her still in the carrier.
The next night when she woke she was upset and wanted to be held, and was back asleep in less than 30 min.
The third night she was mad- did not want to be held or touched at all. She kicked and cried hard for a short while, then was back asleep in less than 10 minutes.
In the past week there has only been one night she slept fully from ~8pm until sunrise.. the other nights she wakes 1-2x and fusses only a little bit… If she sits up I ask her if she needs to p*e, if she’s thirsty, and if she wants to be held.. she answers “no” to all three and lays back down, asleep a few moments later.
I’ve been so impressed by her emotional intelligence- seeking comfort when she needs it and then also knowing when and how to move her frustrations through and out of her body on her own.
I’m also so impressed by her uncanny ability to sense the first hint of dawn breaking.
I’m glad I waited over 2 years to night wean- it was definitely the perfect timing for us… especially since the sun begins to rise at 6am right now instead of 4:45 🌞
