Have you ever heard a voice in your head saying, “I’m not good enough,” or “I’ll never be able to do that”?

Those are self-limiting beliefs — the invisible barriers we create that hold us back from reaching our true potential.

They often sound like truths, but they’re usually just old stories shaped by past experiences, fear, or self-doubt. Over time, these beliefs can keep us from pursuing opportunities, forming healthy relationships, or feeling confident in who we are.

At The Missing Piece, we help our clients:
✨ Identify and challenge those inner narratives.
✨ Understand where these beliefs came from.
✨ Build new, empowering ways of thinking.

You are capable of so much more than the limits you place on yourself. Sometimes, you just need the right tools and support to see it.

💬 What’s one belief you’d like to let go of?

When anxiety pulls us out of the present, grounding helps bring us back to the here-and-now. One helpful tool is the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique, a simple and effective way to reconnect with your body and surroundings when your mind feels overwhelmed.

✨ Here’s how it works:
5️⃣ Acknowledge five things you can see
4️⃣ Notice four things you can touch
3️⃣ Identify three things you can hear
2️⃣ Recognize two things you can smell
1️⃣ Become aware of one thing you can taste

This technique helps regulate our nervous system, calm anxious thoughts, and anchor us in the here and now. It’s a gentle reminder: you are safe, you are here, and you are in control.

A disturbing online cult known as “764” is manipulating children as young as nine into increasingly harmful behavior — including self-harm, animal cruelty, and even su***de— for the group’s entertainment and status. They groom victims on platforms like Discord, Roblox, and social media, coercing them into sharing explicit photos or videos under threat of exposure.

According to the FBI, more than 250 investigations are currently underway across all 55 field offices in the U.S., with most victims being vulnerable girls between 10 and 17, including those grappling with mental health issues.

🔍 What You Should Know:
- Grooming tactics: Predators first establish trust before escalating coercion.
- Threats & extortion: Victims are blackmailed and shamed into compliance with threats to expose them.
- Self-harm pressure: Many victims are forced to injure themselves, record it, and sometimes livestream su***de for viewing by the group.

📣 How to Protect Kids:
1. Talk early and often about safe online behavior.
2. Watch for behavior changes: secrecy around devices, sudden emotional shifts.
3. Encourage blocking/reporting anyone who engages in coercive or manipulative behavior.
4. Reassure kids it’s never their fault and help them feel safe coming forward.
5. Report exploitation immediately to law enforcement or via report.cybertip.org / 1‑800‑843‑5678.

🌞 Morning check-in time!
How we start our day matters. Tuning in to our energy levels can help us set an intentional tone for the day.

This simple journal prompt is a great way to build self-awareness and practice emotional self-care:
✍️ On a scale from 1 to 10, how energized do I feel this morning?
If it’s not quite where you’d like it to be, take a moment to reflect: What might help me feel more grounded, calm, or uplifted today?

Small shifts, like movement, breathwork, a nourishing breakfast, or simply setting a kind intention, can have a powerful impact.

💚 Your mind and body are always worth checking in with.

The language we use toward ourselves matters. Many of our negative thought patterns come from early experiences — messages we picked up from family, school, or society. Over time, these internalized beliefs can become automatic and harsh.

Reframing your thoughts is a powerful cognitive-behavioral tool that helps you shift unhelpful thinking patterns into more balanced, supportive ones.

In therapy, we explore where these patterns came from and practice intentionally replacing them with more compassionate, realistic thoughts. 💭

🎆 Honoring Independence and Interdependence 🇺🇸

This Fourth of July, as we celebrate the birth of our nation, we’re also reflecting on the beautiful diversity that makes America truly strong.

At The Missing Piece Counseling Services, we believe that freedom includes the ability to show up as our authentic selves, across race, culture, gender identity, sexuality, religion, ability, and beyond. Mental health thrives in spaces where every story is seen, heard, and valued.

Today, we celebrate not just independence, but interdependence — the deep connections we share as neighbors, families, and communities working toward healing, justice, and inclusion for all.

Wishing you a safe and meaningful holiday 💙❤️🤍

Did you know that practicing gratitude has an actual impact on our brains? Neuroscientists and psychologists have begun to explore how gratitude affects our brain by: boosting "feel-good" neurotransmitters, regulating stress, training the brain to be attuned to positivity, enhancing neural connectivity in parts of the brain associated with social bonding, and improved self-esteem.

Expressing gratitude can boost dopamine and serotonin in the brain. In expressing gratitude, our brain may release these neurotransmitters, leading to feelings of happiness. Focusing on these positive emotions can also decrease the production of stress hormones. 🌟FOUR COMPONENTS OF GRATITUDE 🌟
NOTICE what you have in your life, what has come into your life, no matter how small.
THINK about why you have received this gift, who made this possible, why they did so.
FEEL the positive emotions that come with receiving from and connecting with others, acknowledging the generosity or love that someone else has shown you.
DO something to express your appreciation.
