Did you know that Black women are 4 times more likely than non Hispanic white women to die due to childbirth and pregnancy complications?

Black women are more often than not, not taken seriously by the healthcare system and end up being denied the dignity and birthing experience they deserve. Doulas offer continuous support throughout the entire duration of labor.
We ensure the mothers wants and needs are met, all the while making sure the mother is FULLY informed on what is happening and that SHE is in control. Until there is racial equality for Black mothers, doulas are an additional needed layer of advocacy, filling the void that is tragically still missing in today’s healthcare.

Not being racist isn’t enough. Advocate. Provide resources. Step in. Be an ally. Listen. Be anti-racist.

MAMAS GIVE YOURSELF SOME GRACE.
Kayden took this candid picture today of me mid-breakdown. Our home was a wreck, the baby was screaming, Kayden had peed on the couch, Landon was bawling and covered in oatmeal, and emotionally I was spent. Wholeheartedly spent. Like walk out the door and debate on not walking back in, spent. So I stopped, took some deep breaths and calmed myself halfway back down. I think as moms we see everyone’s perfectly posed family photos and compare that to our hardest moments and end up putting ourselves down in the process.
So here’s this photo of me in my worst state today, letting you know your kids love you dearly, you are important and YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Mama, give yourself permission to do what you need to do. Put the kids to bed early. Get takeout for dinner. Run the washing machine twice. Let your kids watch Toy Story 1,2,3&4 back to back just to get some peace. Whatever it is, give yourself permission to do what you need to do to be okay.
It’s a bad day, not a bad life. You are not alone.

"See that tiny pink bead on the lanyard? That is the size of a newborn's tiny tummy. When baby is born, the birthing parent produces colostrum for baby, which is the perfect super food for baby. Colostrum contains just the amount of food baby needs and passes antibodies. It's liquid gold! In this photo, I have a standard 2 ounce bottle of formula that is given to new babies. So, if baby's belly is only the size of a marble, what happens when baby is fed 2 ounces? Well, baby will usually spit up all the extra, which then can be spinned into baby having reflux. When really, baby is just being over fed. This leads to interventions like formula changes, antacid medications, etc. It's important that we give families all the available information so they can make the best decisions for their families."

“Being a stay at home mom is something woman should be able to be proud of, giving up your independence to dedicate your time fully to your children and home making isn’t an easy thing to do, you lose any form of Independence and while it’s so unbelievably rewarding, it’s also unbelievably challenging. I find myself so frequently overwhelmed with responsibilities that are repetitive and feel as though I’m living the same day over and over, caring for everyone outside of myself with lots of moments of feeling unappreciated, and alone with no form of “me time” and no “breaks”, it’s definitely draining and comes with a lot of challenges but to give up your own path to pave the way for your children is so selfless and genuinely remarkable and no woman should ever feel less than, or guilty for choosing the path of a stay at home momma. If you’re a stay at home mom, I send you a pat on the back, stay strong and keep it up - especially in times like this ❤️

(working moms are badass too, I just want to show moms who may struggle with the isolation or overwhelming responsibility of being home 24:7, that they are appreciated, admired, and doing a great job ❤️🥰)”

YOUR BABY DOES NOT NEED TO STOP NURSING

Your baby does NOT need to stop nursing to sleep in order to sleep through the night!

That’s right… I will say it again for the people in the back, YOUR BABY DOES NOT NEED TO STOP NURSING TO SLEEP TO SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT!

I just read another post by another sleep consultant/sleep trainer telling a mum that nursing to sleep is the reason her baby is waking and I really cannot believe that this myth is still circulating.

I hear all the time, “how your baby falls asleep at night is how they expect to return to sleep in the middle of the night.” Says who??!!???
I have worked with over 1,000 families and I can say with 100% confidence that this is just nonsense. You DO NOT need to stop nursing your baby to sleep so that they sleep through the night. I have only ever removed this in a small number of families because they either no longer want to do it (which is 100% ok), or when they put their baby down asleep, they wake up so we needed to find a different solution.
