💦 We have been pulling out a lot of moisture from hearing aids this week with our awesome Redux machine! It does help to have a great set of hearing aids to help battle this during the hot months though… like the Starkey Edge AI hearing aids!

We are down to our LAST set of in-office, ready-to-go Edge AI devices that come with a free TV streamer!

Premium level technology… but not with the usual price tag!

$4553 is the total cost for the devices, tv streamer, and one year of unlimited service. Options to add custom ear molds or a longer service plan are available and would alter this price. They can be changed to any color you like if our stock is not your preference. 

We need to complete an evaluation and make certain these are appropriate for you but they can be fit to a wide range of hearing losses.

For any of you that we have sent home with instructions to attempt the Epply maneuvers, here’s a wonderful video describing what’s actually going on.

The maneuvers are a series of movements that aim to correct a common form of BPPV. Usually this is dizziness that presents as vertigo (spinning room) that lasts for about 30 to 90 seconds after you change positions (i.e. roll over or sit up)

🗣️ Just a word on two things that go underappreciated in life… the first being far less important than the second:

1. Just how much of a labor of love it is to hand wrap a present. That task is far more difficult than it appears!

2. The commitment of an employee to be loyal and achieve longevity with one company.

This is Ashley! But you already know that because she’s been with us for TWO full YEARS now!  Not bad for a business that’s only employed people for 2 1/2 years 😁

When Ashley first came to Empire, she took a chance on coming to Hartsville (she drives from Florence!) and she said right away she knew this was where she was supposed to be. We are SO glad she was selected for the job offer out of all the candidates and that she accepted!

Ashley serves as our Audiology Assistant. In her first year she completed a certification course in AA. She handles placing all of our device, equipment, accessory, and custom piece orders. She communicates with manufacturers and patients. She handles hearing aid repairs as well as professional servicing of devices. She prepares all of the details before each appointment and even has her own schedule of patients to manage. Patients ask for her by name because she is just that good! (She’s apparently also an amazing baby whisperer) 😉

She’s currently training and studying to do even more. Very excited for her future in this wonderful industry!

Words cannot describe how disappointed we are that today was our last day with visiting audiologist Susan Wentzel!! She has become a dear friend and mentor to all of us and we can’t thank you enough for coming this summer, Susan! Hope you have a fantastic year with Florence District One!

Nighttime can be really scary for people with severe hearing loss. Some like to wear one or both of their hearing aids overnight or keep a spare pair, but this is not always comfortable (or financially feasible)

Among some free-to-use options that you can find on your iPhone or through the South Carolina Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program, this device also exists and can learn any sound that you want it to be triggered by in order to notify you via a pillow shaker and flashing lights!

There was a lot of buzz over this brand new technology earlier this year… we have even had patients request them by name! They are the Phonak Infinio Spheres! (Link to more info below)

WE HAVE A DEMO SET and I (Dr. Worley) just finished wearing them for my own personal use for a couples of months and now it’s your turn to come try them out!

Pluses:
✔️ They are fantastic for hand free phone calls with an excellent sound quality. You can have no idea where your phone is and answer your call right there on your hearing aids and enjoy your call.
✔️ They do a noticeable job of decreasing noise around you to help you focus on the conversation which could really help someone who struggles with background noise .

Things to consider:
☑️ My only critique is that they are a little on the bigger and heavier side compared to some of the other models, (probably because of how much they accomplish with their processing) so just something to consider if you’re a bit more on the dainty side.
