🌸 If you’re pregnant and planning to breastfeed… this one’s for you.
When I first started my journey, there were so many things I wish someone had told me.

Here are a few:
👶 It’s a learning curve for both you and baby
🍼 Supply takes time to regulate
🤱 A good latch matters more than position
⚡ Pumping isn’t always as simple as it looks
💔 Some soreness can be normal, but ongoing pain isn’t
💭 It’s emotional as much as it is physical

I share these to remind you that if things feel harder than you expected, you’re not doing anything wrong.

💕 Breastfeeding is a skill, and you deserve support while you’re learning.

💻 That’s why I offer 1:1 virtual lactation consults — so you don’t have to figure this out alone.

✈️ Traveling with breast milk doesn’t have to be stressful.
Whether it’s a quick flight or a longer trip, a little planning makes all the difference.

Here are a few key tips from the blog:
🍼 TSA allows breast milk over 3.4 oz in “reasonable quantities”
❄️ Bring a small cooler + frozen ice packs (must be solid at security)
🎒 Pack milk in sealed bags/bottles inside clear pouches to prevent leaks
✈️ Flight attendants can give you ice if you need extra cooling mid-flight
🏨 Call your hotel to confirm fridge/freezer space ahead of time

💡 Want the full guide? Head to my blog for all the details (link in bio!).

And if you’d like a personalized plan for pumping, storing, and traveling stress-free…
💻 I offer virtual lactation consults tailored to your family’s needs.

Noticing milk spraying, coughing, or fussiness at the breast? It may be an overactive letdown — and you’re not alone. Here’s how to spot it (and what helps). 👩‍⚕️✨

Low milk supply can feel so discouraging. But most of the time, there’s a clear reason (and a fix!). Let’s walk through 5 common causes + nurse-approved tips to turn things around. 💪

1. Infrequent or Inconsistent Milk Removal - Your milk supply works on a “make more when you take more” system. Long gaps between feeds or pumps = slower milk kitchen. 🍼
💡 Tip: Aim for 8–12 sessions in 24 hrs (yes, even overnight).

2. Poor Latch or Ineffective Milk Transfer - A shallow latch means baby isn’t fully emptying the breast — so your body makes less.
💡 Tip: A quick latch check with a lactation consultant can make a huge difference.

3. Wrong Pump Settings or Fl**ge Size - Pumping should feel effective, not painful. Fl**ges that are too big/small can reduce output.
💡 Tip: Measure your ni**le size and match your fl**ge. Replace pump parts regularly.

4. Stress and Hormones -

Stress raises cortisol, which can block letdown.
💡 Tip: Make your feeding spot cozy, breathe deeply before starting, and let someone else handle chores for a bit.

5. Medical Conditions - PCOS, thyroid imbalances, anemia, or retained placenta can all affect supply.
💡 Tip: Talk to your provider about labs and underlying issues.

You’re doing an amazing job, mama.

Let’s make a plan just for you.

A simple bedtime routine can make a big difference! 💗
Babies thrive on consistency. Routines help their little bodies and brains start to recognize when sleep is coming.
I especially love including a short massage after the bath… it’s such a calming way to wind down and ease into sleepiness 💤
It doesn’t have to be perfect—simple & consistent steps to end the day 💕

💗 A proper fit can change everything.
She was doing all the right thing, she just needed a personalized assessment. Once we found her correct fl**ge size, she started pumping more milk with zero pain. 🙌🏽

As a nurse and lactation counselor, I don’t just give tips—I assess each mama’s situation and build a plan that fits her body, her baby, and her goals.

If pumping hurts or your supply feels low, you’re not failing—you may just need the right support. And I’m here for you. 🫶🏽

Infant Sleep Requirements by Age 💤

It’s also normal for your baby to be slightly outside of these ranges. This can just mean your baby has higher or lower sleep needs so it’s important to keep these ranges in mind while also factoring in sleepy a cues (yawning, staring, red
brow).

Why do wake windows matter? ⬇️⬇️
Newborns can only stay awake for a certain about of time before needing sleep or becoming overtired. Around the end of their wake window baby will start showing sleepy cues telling you that it’s time for sleep.
Pay attention to the time and your baby’s cues to find the sweet spot!

🚩If you’re struggling to get out of the cycle of overtiredness with your baby, I can help! -this means more sleep for everyone ✨

Along with being a registered nurse and a lactation consultant, I am a newborn and sleep expert! I provide consultations and support for parents getting through the newborn stage and beyond!

It’s is possible to enjoy the newborn stage 🫶🏽
