Essential Oil Questions
We recently had some questions about using essential oils with pets in the house. Educate yourself on the different oils you will be using. Here are some best practices for essential oil usage.
Use pure, unadulterated essential oils. Read the ingredients yourself and check with your supplier.
Always read the labels, pay attention to any specific warnings on your essential oil packaging and adhere to any recommendations provided by the manufacturer.
Use on recommended areas only.
Know how to dilute oils.
Know your strong oils.
Be careful of sun sensitivity.
Practice safe storage - keep away from children and pets.
Keep all bottles tightly closed, cool and away from sunlight.
If you have pets, discuss essential oil usage with your veterinarian. If diffusing, leave the door to the room the diffuser is in open so your pet can go in and out.
Supervise all essential oil activities with children. Understand the differences in using essential oils on adults versus children.
Talk to a healthcare professional.
You can conduct a patch test before using an essential oil on your skin.
