Nina absolutely loves this oatmeal. I make it with my homemade bone broth to saturate it with that protein and collagen goodness. I sprinkled in some pumpkin pie spice, and then realized it tasted like Thanksgiving, so I tossed in some cranberries I had frozen last year, and when I tell you this is fall/Thanksgiving comfort in a bowl…👩🏻‍🍳 Mama cooked up a winner! Savory, warm, and with a little tart.

Made Betty’s Blue Ribbon Stuffing again with dinner last night, and this year’s edition with pomegranate arils on top did NOT disappoint! It also reminded me that I haven’t updated the recipe on the blog to say I include the giblets chopped up and sautéed with the onions. Anyway, delicious! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with those you love 💞

We all stumble and fall. Life is fully of failures. And that’s ok! Reframe that as a lesson - what can you learn from that to move forward in a positive way, to improve an outcome, to realign with your values? I love this quote, and I love the second slide affirmation from my affirmations app last night. So good!!

A creative presentation of what I am about, my values, how I show up for myself and for my patients, what you can expect from working with me, and my why. I needed a bit of a creative outlet to open my mind after brainstorming all sorts of values and prioritizing them to show up authentically.

Heard this on a podcast and had to write it in my planner to look at as often as possible. Had to share it with you. This is about YOU taking control of YOUR life, whatever that means to you. What will it take for you to stop hindering your own progress, to finally decide that YOU are worth it, and that YOU are the one who has the power to change the trajectory of your own life? Yes, we need help and support, but ultimately it is YOUR decision to make.
I’m here to help you once you decide to stop digging.

I haven’t done a fixed post in a while! So here I am, happy new year y’all! This was my GF stuffing that I made for Thanksgiving 2022, and it was downright BOMB. I’m posting the “recipe” on the blog, so watching for that!

A patient came to me complaining that a crown fell off this molar tooth. The tooth had a root canal, and the root canal ended up reinfected (the big gray bubble around that tooth root). The patient didn’t feel the infection, because the nerve of the tooth had been removed in the root canal process. The patient hadn’t been to the office in almost a year, but even our normal check up X-rays may not have caught this infection bc we don’t capture the full tooth roots in annual X-rays. The patient told me he had been repeatedly sick with various colds, swollen lymph nodes, sore throats, etc for several months. He reported he usually gets sick only once or twice a year at the most.
❓❔❓❔
What’s going on here? This tooth root was fractured, which leads to lots of little spaces for pathogenic bacteria to fester, and which are impossible to clean. When I removed it, there was a big pocket of what is called granulation tissue: the infection and associated tissue inside of which the body’s immune response was attempting to sequester the infection. Well, the patient’s immune system was bogged down enough by this infection that he kept getting colds and systemic illnesses. I removed this tooth about seven months ago, and he hasn’t been sick since. Even while his young family has had a couple rounds of illness through the house.
🦠🦠🦠
Infection anywhere is infection EVERYWHERE. Your body is repeatedly trying to respond to any and all assaults it is presented with - and if it’s bogged down by a sequestered and persistent infection, it leaves you susceptible to all sorts of other daily assaults that your immune system would otherwise be able to handle.

It’s “cold and flu season,” y’all. What that actually means is that it’s when the weather changes and we have holidays coming up that promote consumption of an incredible amount of sugar and alcohol and other trash.
👻🎃🍬🍭🥧🍷🥃🎅🏼🎄🍪🥂
We can’t control the weather changes, but there are things we can do to mitigate the effects on our bodies. We CAN control our consumption of trash food. It’s a mindset thing, though. If you feel like you’re “missing out,” then you’ll miss out and compensate for it with binging. If you feel like you’ll make decisions that with both bless your body and minimize the damage done, you can feel good about those decisions. If you choose not to care, that doesn’t change the effects of these substances on your immune system and metabolic health. Whatever you choose, you are also choosing the consequences.
🤧🤒
Aside from food, weather changes take a toll on our immune systems too. Here in AZ, it’s the beginning of the growing season, so lots of grasses and flowers are coming out again. Changing temps and high pollen counts can wreak havoc on respiratory health due to stress and congestion. How do I prevent sinus infections and help reduce my allergy symptoms? Xlear is one of my favorite products, and it has been even before the 🦠
Why?
1️⃣ it’s non medicated. No pharmaceutical-acting things to put me in the cycle of drip-dry in my nasal passages
2️⃣ the list of ingredients is tiny. No colors or fragrances or emulsifiers
3️⃣ it’s SAFE and EFFECTIVE (do you like my buzzwords?)
🗣🗣🗣
Saline helps moisturize mucous membranes. Xylitol prevents and hinders biofilm (you know, dental plaque, sinus infection build up, that gunk in the drain of your sink…). Grapefruit extract prevents microbes from adhering to mucous membranes. That was apparently an accidental finding in some recent studies done with this product.

Who loves shrubs?! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Just tried my hand at my first batch ever and it’s time to strain. Prickly pear! I love a little something extra in my sparkling water on this journey toward sobriety. Have you ever made shrubs?

Oh hey . Did you get outside today? We did. It was Approx 20 degrees cooler in the Prescott area than it was in the Phoenix valley, and our hike was gorgeous. I love exploring our state and seeing literally no one else the entire hike. So beautiful!
