Greetings! I've created a brand new online lawyers wellness community and the first 30 people to join will receive half off for the life of their membership!

In this group, you'll find weekly office hours on Zoom to help you stay on target, monthly themes for things to work on, weekly invitations to focus, and daily accountability and interactions. This is something I've been working on for literally years and I can't wait to rally with the people who are ready to join me on this personal growth journey!

These here crepe myrtles in my driveway y’all. They were one of the first things I noticed when we pulled up to look at what’s now our house for the very first time. Even though it was winter I fell in love with them instantly. We’ve now spent a couple of seasons together and I can say unequivocally that they are the biggest pains in the rear of any tree that I’ve ever been responsible for (to be real - we all know it’s hubs who actually takes care of them). Anyways! They’re constantly dropping leaves everywhere. They have gorgeous flowers that eventually fall and leave sticky ick all around. Even their entire bark falls off leaving decaying bug infested crap all over the place. I guess what I’m saying is that they are incredibly needy and high maintenance. Yet, at the same time, they’re also the most delightful and rewarding trees I’ve ever had the pleasure of hanging around. And I guess my point is that a lot of the best people are also an awful lot like that. 🌳

“FRIENDSHIP IS NOT A NUMBERS GAME

You can have one friend, one single friend, whose support is so fierce, so fabulously fierce, that you feel like there is an army behind you.
And yet you can have umpteen other friends whose allegiance you are not entirely sure of.
You can meet a new friend tomorrow who rocks into your life, rolls up and says ‘I am here for you.’ And they actually, truly are.
Yet you can have friends you’ve known and loved for years and years, who can’t show up even for the best of times, never mind the worst.
If you’re really lucky, you can have a few of each, but one is all you really need.
Friendship is not a numbers game,
it’s a game of instinct, trust yours.”

Swami was having a conversation with Lord Shiva one day and said Lord, “I would like to know what heaven and hell are like." Shiva led the Swami to two doors.

He opened one of them and the Swami looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the Swami’s mouth water. But the people sitting around the table were thin and sickly and appeared to be famished. Each person held a full spoon, but both arms were splinted with wooden slats so he could not bend either elbow to bring the food to his mouth. The Swami shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

Lord Shiva said, “Now you have seen hell”.

They went to the next room, opened the door and indicated that he would now see heaven. The room was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water. The people's arms were splinted with the slats, just as they had been in hell. And yet here, the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.

The Swami said, “I don’t understand”.

“Oh, but it is quite simple”, said Lord Shiva, “and requires but one skill. Here, they have learned to feed each other, while there, they greedily think only of themselves”.

Stop Being So Religious
By Hafiz

What
Do sad people have in
Common?

It seems
They have all built a shrine
To the past

And often go there
And do a strange wail and
Worship.

What is the beginning of
Happiness?

It is to stop being
So religious

Like

That.

“But on certain occasions, it is imperative to defend oneself. I don't think it's fair to ask anybody not to defend herself or himself. So that is a kind of question that has to have a number of codicils, a number of addenda. You have to be able to say, "Under these circumstances, it is very Christian to turn the other cheek." But if somebody is really trying to take your head off with a baseball bat -- I don't know how long you're supposed to stand there and turn the other cheek, so he or she can get a better angle at taking your head off.”
