Do you cook every night? NOPE. I love to go out to eat. I aim for 1-2 restaurant meals a week max most weeks. This helps me to control the ingredients (especially fats) that my food is cooked in. What do I order: protein and vegetables. My favorite: fish and seafood (especially when I travel), a good steak with charred brussel sprouts, and Lebanese food when I’m home. Fermented foods and drinks are an important part of our diet. Why?✅ Supports gut health and digestion ✅ strengthens immune function ✅ enhances nutrient absorption… Kombucha (fermented tea) is a great option (in addition to plain Greek yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi) … but a HUGE word of caution. MOST contain a TON of sugar. Not Toledo-based !! This is my go-to kombucha. It’s also a great swap out for alcohol.

Today’s plan: pool day and meal prep. An eclectic mix of meals ready to be prepped today. Protein-focused, all pasture raised, grass fed/finished. Lots of yellow squash to roast from my garden. Recent test results from my amazing functional medicine NP revealed I need to continue to eat this way. Numbers were awesome… need some hormone support… adding a couple additional supplements (zinc and digestive enzymes… and progesterone. Had the best sleep last night!)

Parents, Lead by example with how you grocery shop, cook, stock your kitchen, and eat. Your kids are watching. My 13-year-old made this meal on her own. The goal in our house is eating read food and meals that include high quality protein 90% of the time. Want your kids to make better choices? Lead by example and be strategic what foods you bring into house. I’m loving my coaching sessions with teens, college studies, and families with children diagnosed with autoimmune disease.

Happy summer! I’m Jenny Goldberg Perin, integrative and functional nutrition health coach. My routine is boring, consistent, and (now) easy. Again and again, my health coaching clients say ‘this is just how I eat now. This is my lifestyle.’ That’s where I’m at. I’m grateful for the work I have done in me to get to this point: I make beef, chicken, or turkey every Sunday to start the week off right. I roast off vegetables (I’m loving zucchini and broccolini). I make a frittata or egg salad. I set my yoga sessions and strength training sessions for the week. I meet with friends for walks, spend time with family, and chill at home. This works for me. What’s working for you to feel your best in your 40s, 50s, 60s? What health topics do you want to hear about?

Sick of the same old breakfast? How about a turkey egg roll in a bowl either a little scrambled eggs? So good! Ingredients: eggs, coconut aminos, cabbage, ground turkey, carrots, onion, garlic, ginger. It took me 10 minutes to make… 🍊

Some examples: achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight, understanding and reducing cravings. increasing energy levels, understanding the best food choices for you, living clean by reducing toxin exposure, and making life-changing improvements with sleep, stress management and exercise.

Jenny’s Wellness Journey

Life is busy. I put my health on the back burner for years. Until I didn’t. Shortly after my youngest was born, I was 20 pounds overweight, inconsistent with exercise, queen of takeout, and overused caffeine to get through the day.

I made the decision to make the shift. I invested in a personal trainer and started working on my diet. I became more confident in the kitchen, in the gym and on my yoga mat. After a decade of success as a consultant, I decided to shift my life and my work to helping others with their diet and health goals - something I am incredibly passionate about. I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in 2018, I’m pursuing a certificate in Hormone Health from IIN, I am an RYS200 yoga instructor and a Wellness Advocate for doTERRA.
