John Groves, 62, of Lost Creek, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at his home.

Born September 17, 1962 in Fort Lauderdale, FL, he was the son of the late Charles Aaron and Wanda Mabel (Bankhead) Groves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Bobby, Raymond, Donald, and Jerry Groves; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and David Bruso; and his dog, Pippa.

John enjoyed the outdoors, and liked to hunt in his younger years. As time pressed on, he turned his bow and arrow and rifle in for a seat at many Broadway Musicals. His love for nature turned into long, scenic drives to watch the changing colors of the autumn leaves and traveling both near and far to see the many beautiful landmarks at various locations. One thing that stood firm throughout his life was his love for his family, and more specifically, his grandchildren, and his love of all things car-related. He could be found at many auto shows admiring both older hotrods, and new release vehicles alike. He also liked to buy and sell cars, never keeping any of his cars for very long. His knowledge of vehicles allowed him to become one of the best car salesmen in the area.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jonathan Groves (Hollea Pugh) of Oak Hill and Danielle Groves (Everett Cutlip) of Mount Nebo; grandchildren: Jocelyn Pugh, Cambree Cutlip, and Jerrick Cutlip; brother, Ronnie Groves (Felicia); sisters: Becky Jeney (Chris), Sandy Neal (Hubert), and Debbie Groves; his dog, Bentley; his partner of many years, Daniel Rugh; the mother of his children, Darlene Groves; his foreign exchange students: Andrezza Martinelli (husband, Renato) and their daughter, Isabella and Lisandra Santana and her children, Lucas, Alice, and Nicole, all of Sao Paulo, Brazil; and many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

A Sharing of Memories will be held 6:00 PM, Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs. Friends may join the family from 5pm-6pm prior to the service.
