Happy Mental Health Monday, y'all. Coming in hot with some thoughts around how your perspective can shape your whole day - and your life, really!
You know the phrase, "When life hands you lemons? Make lemonade." That sh*t just keeps getting more true as the years go on. I realize that it so often isn't what's happening "to me" that affects my mental state, but rather how I choose to react to it.
My reaction to something happening is all based on a preconceived notion of how I wanted things to be. What if I was able to accept what I can't change and not let it be a total mood killer?
I'll leave you with this:
"Suffering occurs when we try to avoid discomfort." - Buddha from like 2500 years ago.
That aged well. Buddha knew what was up.
I read that for the first time recently and was totally mind-blown. I started thinking through scenarios where I've experienced suffering and it often was from me not wanting to feel uncomfortable, not wanting to feel the pain. Alcohol used to let me ignore my feelings, but getting sober gave me a real chance to sit with pain, process it, and transform it to find healing.
Deep stuff from a cookie dough company, I'll tell you what! Hope some of it resonated. Wishing you peace and good vibes as we kick off 2022 together.
Thanks for being in the Doughp family.
Have a Doughp day,

PS: Did you know in 2021 we donated $40,000 to SHE RECOVERS Foundation to support mental health & addiction recovery? BOOM. Thank you for making that possible as a portion of every purchase of Doughp is donated. Feel good and eat good cookie dough!
